So I had been early. Early was good though, except when the girl isn't ready yet. So I was patient guy. I waited for Charlie to finish getting ready, even though she looked amazing without the extra make-up I wasn't going to stop her. So when she was ready we headed out. My own car had lost pretty much it's engine when I tried my last trip, so lucky for me Mom and Dad were passed out on the couch and didn't mind so much when I took the keys to their car.
I was a gentleman and opened the door for her, and then drove us to The Bronze. It was a quiet car ride though. I was maybe too nervous, and I was deathly afraid that the gum I was chewing would fly out of my mouth and stick to the winshield, or her hair. It was just all in all a lose-lose situation. So mouth shut it was.
We pulled up and I was slow on the door opening, but she didn't seem to mind. Into the club we went, and I wanted to go meet this blonde girl dancing over to the left of us. There was something about her. She was pretty, yeah.. but it was more than that. I felt like she understood me. I started to head that way, but the sound of Buffy's voice calling to me snapped me out of it.
"Hey! Over here!"
Of course! Buffy! Came to hang out with Buffy! and Charlie! Who is right next to me! Good one Harris. The two of us wove through the crowd and made our way to where she had found an empty table. Charlie took a seat and I pulled up a chair between my two gals. Well one gal and one potential gal. Either way I was the middle man.
"So, Buffy how did that scene go? Did your Mom know what it was from?" I wanted to make sure to take care of business before fun was had. Faith was a big deal and if there was a problem then we needed a plan.
I'd watched them come in, saw Xander do the stare thing. Didn't mean to act like such a girl with the waving and ... yeah I was in desperate need of fun. And a date, a nice normal date with non deepish soul stirring eyes.
They managed to come over to the table finally and Xander planted himself between Charlie and me.
"So, Buffy how did that scene go? Did your Mom know what it was from?"
I looked at him.
"She knew, and thought I needed to find out some more about my motivation, you know, Moms."
I smiled at him and Charlie.
"I'm going to look into it in the morning. Tonight is about the funage, you know I've totally forgotten about the funage. It didn't help that we have a new resident in the Summers house. Mom's given my room away to one of Dawn's school friends. Her parents moved and it's her senior year ..."
I sighed.
"So Mom ... gave my room to her. But I'm ok with it, seriously I mean ..."
I heard a bunch of OOooo's and looked over to see a girl stalk off after what I guessed was a boyfriend. Whatever, love trials of others was of no interest to me, they just depressed me and made me think about ...
No ... I was not going to feel sorry for myself. I had to do what everyone told me to do. Move on ... from all thoughts of Angel. Even though ... Whatever.
At first I thought we weren't talking all code-speak, although it could be that I had overdone it yet again.
"She knew, and thought I needed to find out some more about my motivation, you know, Moms."
I smiled at her, the thing is that I knew Mom's, but none like hers. Mine was mostly complaining that she wasn't ever part of anything in the house. Even though she made most the plans. Buffy's Mom? That was a different story. She was lucky, plus she had a sister to share the trouble with. At the Harris household, it was either me or the cat. To bad the cat ran away three years ago.

I went to laugh, but then I saw the serious in her face and the matching tone to it. Wow. Ms. Summers had decided to open a youth Hostile? I wanted to ask Buffy how she was really doing, but Charlie tugged on my sleeve drawing my attention to not only the closeness of Charlie to my arm, but the fight starting in the rear of the club. It was that girl. Man she was pretty... sophisticated too. However looked like she had one too many dance partners, and that girl seemed like she was going to do something about it.
The crowd went outside, and then a few moments back inside. Must not have taken long to sort out the mess. I glanced back to Buffy and she was going into a downward glance mode. I tried to think of something to cheer her up, but all I had was gum that was getting pretty gross in my mouth. She lifted her gaze and her eyes sparked.
"So is Will coming?"
I had called her, but got the machine. My guess was she was with Oz, and probably wouldn't be heading out. I didn't want to tell Buffy that, plus ther was the off chance that she would show up.
"Not sure. I left her a message, but I am pretty sure she was with the Oz time today."
Buffy seemed distracted, her gaze was wandering the club and she had started to stare at this younger girl. I hadn't seen her around before, but she seemed attractive. Blonde hair, red shirt. Buffy was really staring now. I didn't think she went that way... then I remembered. Buffy had spotted her. The succubus that is. I mean new to town, Blonde hair, and look at all those boys around her.. plus another fine looking lady too. Maybe the thrall worked on girls too. Buffy would have to be careful.
"Isn't that a girl from your drama class? Maybe she would be interested in a rehearsal some day? You could go ask her. I'll hang here with Charlie. Introduce her to the fine delicacy of fried onions in plant formation."
I nodded and Buffy knew she was in for a bit of a fun time. She needed to get some sort of activity in her. Otherwise she would spend all her time sulking over Angel, who as chance would have it was in town. However that was one secret I didn't mind keeping from her.
Buffy smiled at me, and left me alone with Charlie. Of course it wasn't really alone alone.. we were surrounded by, oh... a hundred people at least. I kept an eye on Buffy and the other on Charlie. She was smiling and having a good time I thought, and Buffy was doing the whole Slayage thing. The blonde girl was looking quite succubus-like, and the brunette she had snared was quite the catch too. Perhaps a minion of sorts. Oh the fun those two could have...
My mind wandered for a bit, but snapped to attention the second I heard Buffy yell out Dawn's name. Dawnie? Dawnie was here? Where? I glanced around to where Buffy was, but all I saw was the blonde girl and the brun-- oh... oh dear lord, I was going to hell. Yep. They could save me a spot, cause I would be pulling up curbside soon.
I gestured to the scene Buffy had accidently created... at my idea of course.
"Buffy's sister... her younger, much more minor sister is here. I think Buffy is more than shocked."
Charlie laughed a bit, and I smiled. She was nice. Since the whole succubus thing wasn't over where Buffy was I turned my attention to Charlie. I wanted to know more about her, but the thoughts of being too obsessive crossed my mind. I didn't want to go all out on this first outing. I should take it easy. Calm. Oz-like. Oz-like with the non-Willow thoughts of course. Oh and less hair too.
"So... how are classes?"
Great one. Ask her something that she can't ask you back. Fantastic. I wish Buffy had found the succubus now, maybe at least I could get put out of my misery... in a happy way.
