Dorothy on her way down the not-so yellow brick road.

Funny how when you're protecting a Hellmouth, the former one now all of a sudden ends up needing more protection. Okay, rather than needing my help, it's drawing me there. Not that I mind. Because well, I don't. It's a change of scenery for me, and for Jane. Though, I'm not exactlly thrilled about having to take her with. She sees enough as is. No ( Read more... )

With most of the suitcases in my hold, I listened. Not to just Jane, but to the surroundings. I could feel it. It sang in my veins. The power of this place. The evil. The destruction. And I also felt such a familiar presence here, also. But, I'd listen to that one a little more later.

"No one. I know this town like the back of my hand." I stated. "Plus, I'm not sure who would've been here first is all. Let's head to a motel for the time being. I'll ask Giles later when we see him, about a protection spell. Until then, you stick by my side, okay pumpkin?" Smiling her way, I started off. Making sure she was right at my side and that Jane was in sight at all times. If anything happened to her, which it so won't, I know I'd die of a broken heart. She was my world and there is nothing that I wouldn't give her. I'd save her. Just like she had saved me when I first looked into those beautiful eyes full of innocence and curiousity. It was then I knew that no matter what, I wasn't alone. I wasn't the typical Slayer who would always be alone.

"You hungry? I know a place in town that we can go to." It was rebuilt, but in the same exact spot and identical to the last construction of it. A place Riley and me had gone to countless times. I just wouldn't tell Jane who took me there.

"Oh! I'd love to go eat. Where are we dropping off our stuff?" I asked. Frankly, I really don't want to lug all of this stuff around.

The look in Mom's eyes when we looked around the area was weird. I've never seen her like this. It looks like she is frightened with a tint of strength. I can see how it would be frightening. I'm kinda scared. But she looks so strong right now. I know that nothing bad will happen because I can feel it. I know she will protect me and I'll do the same for her. Not like I can really do anything anyway. But it's good to try, right? I'd rather die beside her than anything else.

I stood there awaiting her response as a really odd looking man passed by us. He was very white and looked really sick. He was wearing a hood over his head and raggedy looking clothes. I wonder if he's okay, maybe he needs a doctor or something. Is he homeless? Why do I care so much?

"At the motel, baby." I said in distraction. My fingers twitching. I felt it. I felt it everytime I was near one. It was like a honing senser. I knew where they were without seeing them. Like a predator with the scent of blood wafting in the air. He'd be able to follow it just as I was able to follow the hum inside my veins towards the vampires. Setting my bags to the ground, I stepped in front of Jane. Cautiously eyeing the hooded figure passing us.

"Stay in my sight and don't help. If I tell you to run, you do as I say. No hesitation." It was the typical rule whenever we'd go out together. Always just the two of us. So, I knew Jane would do as I said. Even if she didn't know this town at all, she'd find a safe haven to go to.

Sprinting from off the ground, I hurried to the robbed figure. Spinning him around, and at once I was face to face with it's game face. "Nice night out for a ritual, huh?" I quipped, not giving it any time to reply. Fist colliding with the center of it's face. Vampire snarling and hissing at me. "Slayer." Came the venomous toned title. "Gee! After all these years and I'm still famous. Gee, what's a girl to say?" I taunted, ducking the first of several blows. O nly catching one hit to my left eye. Which instantly bruised, but would quickly heal. The vamp now dust in the wind. Another nameless vampire unable to perform whatever ritual it was intended on doing. Leaving behind a piece of information, perhaps.

With the engraved wooden box in my possession, I walked back over to Jane, "Looks like I have Pandora's box. Best not to open it until we know what it may release." It could be a teeny jewelry box, but it was best to be on the safe side. Lugging up the suitcases, I led us to and into the hotel we would stay at. Instantly spotting a familiar face. One that I swore to be dead. Or long since forgotten.

(Whee! Hoppin' time. :))
