[RP] Growing Up Is Hard To Do

Sunny rolled over and moved an arm around Maggie, pulling her closer. He'd been having trouble sleeping. Instead he was laying there thinking. He rubbed Maggie's back slowly and watched her as she slept. It did make him feel a lot better just having here there. It always did. Maggie curled in closer to him, settling in close with a soft sigh. She was still pretty much asleep, and she really didn't plan on waking up anytime soon. It was one of those things where someone was going to have to force her to get up if they wanted her attention. He didn't necessarily want to wake her, but he was still happy to have her there. He dropped his lips to her ear and kissed her softly.

"Mmmm," she mumbled softly. "Go back t'sleep."

"I like this better," he murmured.

She grumbled slightly at that. "But I wanna sleep."

"Then go back to sleep," he whispered. He pulled back a bit and dropped his head beside hers. "I'm just laying here."

"But you're not sleeping. Which leads to me wondering why you're not sleeping," Maggie replied, blinking one eye open. "Besides, you're breathing on me. It's distracting."

He smirked. "Want me to sleep on the floor?" Yes, he was avoiding as he did best.

"No. Because something's obviously bothering you," she shifted slightly, before pushing herself up to look at him. "What's wrong?"

He sighed and looked at her. "I've just...had some things on my mind. That's all."

"Like what?" she asked gently, not pushing, but if it was worrying enough to be disrupting his sleep patterns, it might help to talk about it.

He chewed his lip slightly and looked down at her arm as he brushed it slightly. "Just...complicated things. Some things about me that...I want to tell you, but...I don't know how."

"Spiting it out has always worked well for us," she smirked slightly, before leaning over and kissing his forehead lightly. "You don't have to if you don't want to. I'm just worrying, that's all."

"No. I want to tell you. I just...I've never really told anyone. Ben knows, but...he was around for it and..." he closed his eyes at the feel of her kiss and took a deep breath. "Thing is...I kinda lie when I say...that I'm an only child. I..uh...didn't used to be."

"Oh?" she said, staying close and running her fingers through his hair softly.

He kept his eyes closed still. It was easier. "I had an older sister," he said slowly. "Tori. Well, Victoria. She...was my big sister. She took care of me. Our parents were always hard on us, and she...she was the one who was my support."

"Something happen to her?" she asked softly.

His jaw twitched slightly. He shrugged to try and push it off. "She died when Ben and I were in the ninth grade." He opened his eyes, but looked passed her towards the wall. "Vodka and sleeping pills."

"Oh, baby," she said softly. "I'm so sorry."

He kept his jaw clenched and continued looking away. "Always thought she was the strong one, y'know? She didn't care what our parents thought, and she didn't care about their money. She...moved away. They cut her off, and she didn't care. They tried to not let me keep in touch with her, but we found ways. And I...I just thought she was okay."

"It happens sometimes," she murmured. "Sometimes it's the people we least expect, the ones we never see coming."

"She...she was the person that loved me," he said quietly with another shrug.

"I know," she said softly. "I know."

He looked down and pulled up the charm around his neck. "Tori got this for me. Before she died."

Her fingers moved over his gently, tilting it up so she could get a better look. "It's nice." He nodded and dipped his head slightly to kiss her fingers. "You miss her?"

"Yeah," he said softly.

"Bet she misses you."

"She's dead," he said simply. "She can't miss me."

"Never know," Maggie replied, shifting so that she could catch his eyes. "I mean, no one knows what happens after we die. Maybe she's out there somewhere missing you."

He met her eyes, really trying to hold himself in. "She's the one that left."

"I know. But it's hard not to miss people you love." His hand moved out for her cheek and his thumb brushed her skin. He knew she could understand it. She leaned into the touch a bit, before looking over at him. "Are you okay?"

He nodded and moved in close to kiss her cheek. "Just...don't go anywhere."

"Not planning on it."

Sunny was done talking. He held her chin lightly and kissed her. She kissed him back, sliding an arm around his neck and leaning in closer. "Sorry for keeping you awake," he whispered against her lips. "I won't now."

"It's okay," she murmured back. "You needed to talk."

He tightened his arm around her and moved closer. She curled up closer to him, and slid her arms around him, letting them just relax together. He held her and kissed the top of her head, just glad to have her there. She curled in closer to him, and started to drop off to sleep again, just relaxing next to him. Sunny closed his eyes and lay with her. It took him awhile longer, but eventually he fell back to sleep as well.
