A nice easy LJ post then?
Well - there is little I can say here that some of my friends have not said already, or what is not already known by most. Love is complicated. It's messy, uncertain and can sometimes cause more trouble than you ever thought possible. But love is kinda ace. All love is good, at least by my books.
I'm a self-confessed 'love' addict. I love saying how I love things. I love Ben. I love my family. I love my cats. I love my friends. I love my flat. I love my leather jacket. I love cooking. I love Red Dwarf. I love Craig Charles. I love curry. I love wine. I love making people laugh. I love books. Ecetrea ecetera, ad nauseum.
I draw the distinction between 'being in love' and 'loving' someone or something. I know I can be a fail-tastic friend at times, but I like to think I've got peoples back...and if you ever ring me at 4 a.m from some Police station, chances are I'll know a good criminal lawyer...or at best, a competent one. I do love my friends though. I love people I see once a year at best just as much as I love the people I see at least once a week.
I try to say 'I love you' as often as I feel I can get away with it. I bombard Ben with it. I throw the occasional "oh, X, I love you!" at people, especially if they brought me some giggles just before. I've also got in the habit of saying 'I love you' to my dad after each phone call, which was initially difficult for both him and me.
I know I might sometimes come across as stand-offish or cynical, but I believe in love. It makes me happy to see people in love, or even just loving each other as friends. I'm probably a lot more emotional than I let on.
Love you guys. Love you.
