I just can't seem to shake off this apathy affliction I've got, and it's getting me down. Usually, I'm one determined lady, so to be in a situation where I honest and truly can''t be arsed unsettles me. Part of me believes it because, quite simply, I'm bored now. I'm bored of my degree. I've been doing it 2 and a 1/2 years now - I'm weary, I'm ( Read more... )

Urgh, apathy sucks. I get it sometimes, where I've just not got any motivation at all.

I'm sure a lot of it is to do with your health. Colds are so annoying :( Plenty lemsip and warm baths and hugs for you!

If it helps any, I've found the following things helpful when I'm feeling like this:

-daily 20 minute (at least) brisk walk outside
-good, light, healthy food eaten regularly, not just one big meal a day
-changing what I'm working on. Not just to another similar project. Say if I'm lacking motivation at doing something work-related I will switch and complete a housework task that's been on the to-do list for a while. The buzz from getting that done can then get me feeling motivated enough to tackle the original project.
-getting plenty of sleep
-my workspace beeing tidy, clean and free of clutter
-breaking each task down into chunks which are easier to manage
-making lots of lists

I hope that some of that helps in some way! Hope you feel better soon from your cold xxx.

Thanks for the tips. I'm a list girl too - it just helps me keep things a bit more in focus. :)

Degree boredom plus lingering cold does indeed equal apathy, which is good because it means it'll go away. Keep beating down the cold with whatever your preferred method is (vitamins, juice, mountains of tissues) and be assured that this too shall pass.
