"was that your doctor?" asks my brother,
looking at a picture of the scrubs clad lady
holding screaming newborn sarah.

"yeah. dr. hudgins."

"she has really kind eyes," he says in a tender voice.

"yes she does. and she is. kind i mean."

"that's cool," he says, studying the picture deeper.

"dr. hudgins was my saving grace during all the
assorted pregnancy trials. she, and her nurse, amanda. i'm grateful for both of them."

"you should tell them that."

"you're right. i should."
