Wow, I totally missed supportive shipper!Martha's expression of "Aww, the Doctor and Donna are so adorably in love". Thank you for pointing this out! And I so love how Donna just keeps hanging on to his arm, she doesn't want to even think about losing him again.
And the little sequence at the end, yeah, it always struck me how he just can't stop gazing at Donna the whole time (this is a bit of a pattern - and particularly in EOT, he literally cannot drag his eyes away from her, because he's so in love and just wants to go to her, he misses her so much and you can just see his shattered heart reflected all over his face and ..so sad..). But I love how your caps interpret this scene (yes, she totally does look at him at the "ring" comment - recalling their time after TFOP perhaps when he admits he needs someone, and that she loves him needing her, and also starting to admit how much she loves needing and being with him). Honestly, Catherine and David are so expressive with each other and say so much without having to say a word, it's all in the eyes and the little smiles and gazes of adoration and protection. That cap of Ten 15th from the end, where his gazing at Donna with that hint of a smile, he does that SO often to her throughout the series, it's like the smile he has just for her that says "I'm so proud of you and I adore you and I'm so lucky to have you". You so need an icon (perhaps captioned and uncaptioned versions) of Ten in this frame

Absolutely. Before I gave in to my inner shipper, I used to think that maybe I was just imagining all those admiring glances and sexy looks Ten always threw at Donna, but when I started to trawl through caps for the picspams I did a while back, I started to see that I wasn't making it up!
I don't recall Ten ever looking at anyone else that way. I maintain that DT was playing him smitten; either that or he just couldn't help his inner CT fanboy from peeking out!
Same happened to me! I always thought I was making it up but once you're spending some time with the episodes you can really find all of these looks and smiles. Especially when you're caping them cos then you see all those little moments that are over too soon when you're watching the episode!

David was DEFINITELY playing the Doctor as smitten with Donna; I read in an interview with DT somewhere about The Runaway Bride that the Doctor starts off not really warming to Donna, but by the end of their first adventure, he's starting to fall for her (in fact, if I recall correctly, DT himself actually uses the word "smitten" here).
But him and Catherine are such good mates that I'm sure there was ALSO a little bit of his inner CT fanboy in there as well!

- or something along those lines. I just wish I could find it again! I know it was in one of the UK tabloids in the run-up to Xmas 2006, but I've not been able to find it since. Still, I read the quote and it does exist so that's something, at least!
"Smitten" is the term I've used a lot to describe David's performance - it's not a word that seems to be used very often, but it definitely does the trick!

Superb actors. I love it when they give certain scenes so much more meaning by simply adding a certain gesture or smile or gaze. I bet it wasn't even written in the script sometimes.
