I love you Australia. I'm so proud to be an Australian. We have our faults, but I think we overcome those faults with our many great traits.
I love our landscape, our terrifying, dangerous, rough and barren but beautiful landscape. I love being surrounded by some of the best waters in the world. I love the smell of the bush, of the summer rain when it hits the dusty soil. I love our forty degree days, secretly. I love how mother nature continuously challenges us, and we always, always somehow manage to move on, with a smile on our faces. I love our idea of mateship, I love our traditions. I have never thrown a prawn (shrimp) on the bbq before but I would love that too, because I'm a big old BBQ girl at heart. I like our stupid, silly reasons and excuses to go drink, we are laid back, I like that. We don't have time to judge, we're too busy enjoying ourselves. I love our values, our people, all of them. I love our faults, it reminds us that we're human, we're not perfect.
I may want to escape you a lot Australia, but you will always be home, I'll always love you. You and your deadly snakes and spiders. It's part of the deal :)
I may sound sappy, but I really truly do love Australia Day, I think we have so much to be proud of!
