WOW!
It just hit me last night how grown up Pat is becoming. He came home from a weekend at his dad's and was sitting in my computer chair and I was like HEY! Who the hell is this? That is not my little boy! He looks like a man! AND WTF! He is taller than me?!?! Somebody bring back my little boy please!
Seriously, I am proud of who he is becoming. I just wish he were less like his dad and me when it comes to schoolwork and grades. He is a smart kid but doesn’t put even an ounce of effort into schoolwork. His reading skills are horrible and his penmanship is horrid. I've always tried to work with my kids doing homework, reading to them etc but with Pat there was no doing it. He wouldn’t sit still long enough or would start pushing those buttons that kids know to push and just make it impossible to do. I just hope he wakes up and realizes that he will need an education to do what he wants in life. Besides that he is a good kid, that cares about others and always shows respect to others. He has a job that he works hard at and his boss likes him (guess it helps that the boss is a family friend and that Kurt and I once worked for him *grin* ) and he usually gets great tips (selling lemonade at the outlet mall).
I just keep reminding myself that the path he is destined to follow is most likely not the path that I would like for him to follow. As long as he stays true to himself I will be happy.
