I finally took my car to the mechanic yesterday. It's been making this godawful metallic-y grinding/clanging noise every time I idle (aka every fucking stop sign, street light, and traffic jam) and the air conditioning only blows hot, hot air ever since I drove up to Georgetown a couple of weeks ago. Well, the results are in and it's not as bad as it could be, but it's way more than I can afford. :(
The mechanic said that the compressor for the A/C is completely busted and needs to be replaced entirely. The problem lies in that my car only has a single serpentine belt, and it runs the compressor too, so even if I turn off the A/C, the compressor still runs and makes those noises. They quoted me $900 bucks to fix it completely or $300 bucks to just bypass the problem, go without air conditioning, and still pay $900 bucks later when I actually fix it. :/
My mom says that she can maybe scrape together $300 dollars to do the bypass thingy, but there is absolutely no way we could find $900. I understand that I need to have the car back, A/C or no A/C, but the thought of the next 2 1/2 months of 100+ degree weather with no A/C? That makes me want to crawl in a hole and die. Especially driving back and forth to job interviews. I can just see myself trudging into the office, dripping with sweat and runny makeup, because I sweat buckets even if it's only a little hot. Oh yeah, hire that. D:
