beginning
My first lj entry. I can't imagine who would be interested...except maybe my daughter. This is my old friend Bonnie's birthday. For nearly 50 years I sent her flowers and talked with her on the phone on this day. I guess I should put a sad icon on about that if I can figure out how to do it.
I am reading The Theory and Practice of Virtue by Gilbert Meilaender. Surprisingly, it is very interesting and well written. I am just really tired from two days of partying and party giving this weekend so it is hard to concentrate.Right now the gist of it is that virtue involves the quest for perfection. THAT is the story of my life, but whenever I think of perfection I think of this kid at camp who consistently, at about age 11, mispelled her own name. When I finally asked her about it she shrugged and replied "nobody's perfect." She has been a role model ever since for my bouts of extreme perfectionism.
I don't like seeing all this packing going on in my house. Heather is taking her cats and even taking all her stuffed animals with her to Minneapolis. What am I going to dust? I guess she is really serious.
