So I've officially decided that next summer is not going to suck as much as this one. That has almost become the little light of hope for me as I am trying to make it through these last few weeks. It sounds ridiculous, but I am sick of this summer and instead keep wishing it was next summer. Summer in itself isn't that great. Actually, summer in itself sucks. Unless you have plans...
Somehow I got it into my head that I am going to Argentina or Chile, leaning more towards Argentina at this point. So, that's the plan. Next summer it's back to language school down there and hopefully connecting up with some organization that I can work with the rest of the summer after intensely studying some more Spanish. And just to show how little I am really accomplishing here and now, in addition to having looked up a billion and half language schools, volunteer organizations, plane tickets(...) I have gone as far as to find out how much it would cost to fly up to Brazil for the week or two my group from church will be there so I can go back to visit my amazing, amazing amigos brasilaidos. And learning that bit of information was quite exciting: I can fly from Buenos Aires to Rio for only $260 roundtrip (and it's only $290 to go all the way to Belo Hortizonte)!!! So yeah, that's WAY cheaper than from the states, obviously, and we do fundraising and support from the church to go, so my crazy plan to country hop for Jesus around South America is coming together quite nicely.
If only I can survive four more weeks of eight hour days of biology and history... To borrow the phrase from the hooch: puking cow.
