Well I survived my first week of college and today the second one begins! The first week was good and bad. Good because my classes and the people here are awesome. Bad because I have been sick all week and played shitty golf. I love my classes, the professors are so engaging and full of knowlege. I am actually excited to go to class and listen to their great lectures and participate in all the discussions. It's so nice to have teachers that love their job and are truly interested in the topic that they are teaching.
My days have been very long since I get up so early and go to bed so late. I am soo not used to going to bed late and I have come to the decision that my roomate is nocturnal. MWF my classes start at 8 and go until 11:35, then at 12 the team meets at the vans to go play golf and we don't usually get home until 7:15. This week of golf was hellish. I felt so sick each day lugging my clubs around for 5 hours and my scores definately showed it, thus I did not qualify for the tournament that the team left for on Saturday. Actually though, not qualifying was a blessing in disguise because I got to rest up this weekend, get stuff done, and I don't have to miss class for competition today and tomorrow. So all in all its a nice break. My tues/thurs consist of workouts with our trainer at 6:30 am then after that she leads us through a half hour of yoga, which is a nice beginning to the day. Then I usually sleep from 8:45 to 9:45 and then head to class at 9:55 and get out at 11:20. another nap, then off to the range at 2:00 and get back at 5:00. Each week the freshman athletes have to put in six hours of study hall in the athlete academic center so I usually go there for a bit at night. My schedule sounds crazy but this is what I need, I thrive off of being busy and having lots of structure in my life. the weekends are so nice to look forward to though and such a nice relaxing/hella fun time! I was sad though because this weekend Brit was in San Fran and was going to come visit but then she decided not to venture down to Santa Clara :(
I haven't really gotten homesick. Being so busy I haven't had a lot of time to think about home very much. I have been emailing and talking to the fam a lot. After I hang up or send off another email there is a little empty feeling though. Its crazy how I take things for granted, like always being around my family and having them be a constant presence in my life. It's not until they are not around that I realize how much I love being around them and what an impact they have in my life. I still can't believe I won't see them until Thanksgiving :(
My roomate lives five minutes away and her mom made such a big deal about her not coming home until thanksgiving, but wait, who went home this weekend??? It was nice having the room to myself though!
I've been hanging out a lot with some brophy boys that I had never met before because they all live on my floor. They are good guys, kinda reminds me of home. The weather here has been perfect. Sunny during and warm during the day, cool at night. saturday was a nice relaxing day spent lounging by the pool. My dorm is the perfect location because it is close to all the off campus houses where all the parties are at. It's really funny how all the different houses have names and when you ask people what they did last night they just name off all the houses they went to. yellow house, jailhouse, Otter, icehouse, theres like a bajillion different houses that have parties. Sorry for all the random comments. I'm truly having a great time here I hope everyone is doing well. Ariel I hope you start to get less homesick. Stay healthy and people that are sick (me) get healthy
