Well, I'll be darned. I didn't know that about you (or rather, about your mom)! How cool is that? *smile*

No, I'm not national staff; in duties, responsibilities and area served, my office is closest in structure to your Bishops. We are the next governing level up from individual congregations, so though we skip the step of the smaller districts & superintendents, some of our work is probably quite like that as well.

New Mexico, though geographically very large, is lightly populated, so the territory we cover is huge, relative to membership (and just plain huge, when you're driving it!). We have the southern/eastern area, roughly 40% of the state, and the office in Albuquerque has most of the rest. (One lone, tiny congregation in farrrrr western NM is actually in the Tucson, Arizona "district"; there's only so far anyone can be expected to travel for meetings!) The northern office has maybe 40 or so churches and probably three times our membership (I don't recall offhand what their numbers are); we serve 22 congregations and about 2400 people. But that's why it's a two person office--just me and my boss, full-time.

And actually, I attend and staff quite a number of the meetings I organize. Oddly enough, and I cannot imagine why, the food tends to be better at those!

*angelic look* <...straightens halo...> *resumes innocent look*
