In-Character Information
Name: Okami Amaterasu
Game/Series: Okami
Teacher/Student/Other: Teacher
Canon Point: After Okamiden starts (as in, Chibiterasu exists)
Age: N/A
Grade Level/Class Taught/Job: Art History
Dorm or Living Arrangement: Wherever Waka will be staying.

Personality:

First off, Amaterasu does not express herself through words or thoughts, but through her actions. Excited to see someone? She'll wag her tail and bark in a friendly manner. Feeling guilty or sad? Ammy will lower her head, flatten her ears and whine. Angry? Growl and take a battle stance. It isn't clear whether taking the form of a wolf influenced her personality, or if she was always this way.

Amaterasu shows endless kindness and loyalty to her friends, and will be happy to help them out whenever she can. For her, "friends" mean anyone without evil in their hearts. She doesn't care what they call her or how they generally treat her, although free food and pettings are nice. Even if someone doesn't have divine beliefs or think she's anything special, she'll do everything in her power to keep them safe from evil, because she thinks it's just the right thing to do. She has a special admiration for those who fight to protect those dear to them-- as the goddess of the land which she roams, she herself feels obligated to look after her people.

As for those who would do harm unto others for no good reason, Amaterasu has a very strict no-tolerance policy, and that policy is usually a battle. Because this almost always applies to demons and she promptly slays them, she won't know what to do if a human displays such behavior.

Amaterasu is somewhat impulsive, possibly because of Issun's encouragement to rush headlong into whatever lies ahead. She often will curl up and try to nap if someone is talking for her for too long, which may indicate a short attention span. She's a woman... er, wolf of action, after all. "Fear" is a foreign concept to her. She may display more hesitance or caution towards more dangerous situations, but she has nothing to fear as long as she keeps her head, for expelling evil from the world is one of her divine duties.

Amaterasu is not the kind of god whose only command is "Fondly regard creation." She likes to have an active role in her world, sticking her nose where it doesn't really belong wherever she can. Any one village's problems also become her problems, and she assists them. She doesn't see the point in being called a god if she can't take a part in it.

The other Brush Gods and some characters address Amaterasu as "origin of good and mother to us all." Indeed, she's very nurturing towards people, and tries to be a good role model. She believes in working for the greater good, regardless of whether or not there's a reward. Praise is certainly nice, and restoring someone's faith in the gods is certainly welcome, but it's not necessary. It's very rewarding to her when she sees others follow this example.

Above all, Amaterasu values resolve, for without it, any goal or accomplishment would be meaningless. She believes that no matter the outcome, the most important thing is the effort you put into a task, and the willpower to see it through to the end.

TWO!
THREE-HIT COMBO!!!

---

En route to the Celestial Plains, Waka fell from the Ark of Yamato like a total moron, much to Amaterasu's distress and dismay. Of course, she didn't know how to control the vessel, so she could do nothing but continue on course, vowing to herself to find him once her duty was completed.

Time passed, and Amaterasu had restored the Celestial Plains to their former glory. Yet troubles had arisen in the land of Nippon below, but that was why she had created her son, Chibiterasu, and she had faith that he would be able to deal with the mortal world's troubles.

She left the Celestial Plains in the care of the other Brush Gods, and made a beeline for the area where she had witnessed Waka's not-so-glorious swan dive off the Ark. What a strange city this was! And dangerous, too. Those ground-based vessels moved fast! It would be fun to ride one, but if she got hit...

Oh, right. Find friend. Which was easier said than done. So many smells made him hard to track down, but wandering through FDC eventally led her to a place where she caught a whiff of his scent, and that place was Capcom High- But alas, the scent then led away, to a different facility on the other side of town. She didn't know it then, but she'd be chasing Waka all the way to Smash Academy!

Anything Else?:

Hoo boy, here we go.

☼ Amaterasu, being a goddess, has lots of unique powers at her disposal. You can read about them here. I promise that these will not be abused. If necessary, I can explain some in more detail than is given.
Here is a bunch of stuff she has on her, but doesn't necessarily use. (For the sake of not godmodding, she does not have the String of Beads, the Thief's Glove, the Wood Mat, and I may also remove the Water Tablet if you feel it is necessary, but I don't foresee any reason for her to abuse that.)
Also, an array of Divine Instruments which are used as her weapons. In most battles she will use lower-tier instruments so as to provide a fair fight. Generally you will not be seeing the higher-tier ones, unless it's absolutely necessary.
☼ Only people with a faith/belief in divine powers will be able to see Amaterasu for what she truly is-- anyone else will just see a white wolf with a black-tipped tail.

In-Character 1st person writing sample (journal):

[The video flicks on. The view is that of the stadium. Seems someone left it on the ground, and there's a wolf... dog thing walking around. There's something in her mouth as she looks around for someone.

Suddenly, Ammy realizes that the video function is on. She doesn't quite understand it, but if what Waka said is correct, people can see and hear her right now through this device. She trots over and gives a muffled bark, then drops the object. It's a Screw Attack, but she has no way of knowing this.

The wolf places her paw over it and nudges it in view of the camera. She grumbles curiously, demanding to know what she found. It certainly isn't very tasty, so maybe it's treasure? Answers, people!]

If that's not enough, here's a DR post. But otherwise, yeah, action posts forever.

In-Character 3rd person writing post:

Amaterasu was used to having doors open for her as she approached. The problem was, they had been sliding doors with no handles, and easier to will. But the goddess had no way of knowing this, and wound up smacking her head against the doors as she ran. Ouch!

Recovering herself, she stared intently at the doors of the building. Ammy wondered if these doors were cursed, and if she'd have to destroy the source. Yet... she didn't detect any evil energies at the moment. Strange. The wolf thought about this obstacle for a while. If Issun were here, what would he suggest?

"Leap before you think!"

Of course, how could she have forgotten? There was always their way through a problem-- charge right on ahead! Amaterasu walked away, putting some distance between herself and the fiendish doors. Then, she started running towards them, ready to headbutt the doors down... !

Crash. The door didn't give way, but the glass panels certainly did. Amaterasu looked at the mess she'd created, then decided she'd better fix that. A simple Rejuvenation would do to restore the smashed window! Satisfied with her efforts, she trotted off through the halls. She wasn't aware that the original glass shards were still scattered about the floor. Oh well.

Elsewhere, Raiden made a sad face.
