We'll be hosting a Sunflower River work party this Saturday, February 6th. We have three really exciting projects lined up for the day: we are going to clear out the old barn foundation (with Chris's tractor--thank you, Chris!), set up the playhouse, and start rennovations on the kitchen.

At this point, we are really hoping that a crew of folks who don't mind swinging a shovel can to help with the old barn site cleanup. This is essentially a restoration project; we are reclaiming the good earth that is under that pile of debris and dismay, and cleaning up the worst remaining mess on the property. We'll be using the tractor's front-loader to load the trucks, then taking them to the dump and unloading there. the more hands we can put on this, the faster and funner it'll be! not to mention how incredibly satisfying it'll be to have that whole mess cleaned up at the end of the day. Folks with pickups, we can line the truck bed with an old tarp if you have one around (we have a couple but not a bunch). Everybody should bring a shovel and work gloves if you have them; we have extras available for those who don't.

We'll also want a couple people to help set up the playhouse (did you know we have a wooden playhouse?) We're putting it near the ritual grounds, and want to have it set up in time for this year's Ostara festivities.

Meanwhile, Rev will mastermind the beginning of the kitchen rennovation. We actually *don't* want lots of helpers on this (it is a small room!) but could use one more construction-experienced volunteer that day, if anybody with that skill-set wants to help with some beneficial destruction for an afternoon. (We're taking out the soffit and a quarter of the wall between the kitchen & livingroom, at last).

As always, a hearty vegetarian lunch will be provided, and we will send you home with farm produce! We have eggs, jam, pickles, mead, whathaveyou.

And if the weather cooperates, we'll spend Sunday bringing back truckloads of manure from our friends at RR Stables in Belen. If you're interested in swinging a shovel, but saturday doesn't work for you, please consider coming out around 2pm on Sunday to unload compost for the garden!

Hope to see you this weekend!

The next work party will be Sunday, March 7th. By the end of February, we'll have the calendar set for the rest of the year, and will publish it here, as well as on the email list. If you are interested in regular notices about these things, please let me know so i can put you on the email list.
