so i had another "go around" with Ryan Blevins today...his original email told us that since they messed up with Burns housing, they would give us FIRST PREFERENCE in the suite and general housing selection process, and then we came to find out today that we would NOT be able to live in Ingham because there were other people with higher numbers applying before us, YET he told us that we were GUARANTEED FIRST PREFERENCE!
sooo my dad, who is continually getting upset with their office, wrote this email....
Mr Blevins,
I am very disappointed in the situation with my daughter Lizzy's
housing for next year. After getting your e-mail last week I was
confident that you were going to work with Lizzy and her roommate to
find a solution. Now, it appears that you were merely paying lip
service to the problem.
As far as I can see you gave Lizzy the run-around at Friday's
meeting, and have continued to confound the situation by adhering to
a multi-tiered reservation system which is the cause of the problem
in the first place. I had to cut my daughter off when she patiently
tried to explain to me the ridiculous daisy chain of sign-ups and
forfeits required to negotiate the system--the system that she
correctly followed in the first place and your office botched.
I will give this situation a few days to work itself out. In the
meantime I have recommended to Lizzy that she fill out the off-campus
housing application. I mentioned a financial concern in my original e-
mail to you that my ability to send two students to Albion next Fall
is contingent upon Lizzy not having Board charges. I meant it.
Ryan, I just want to hear that this is worked out. I don't want to
waste time writing e-mails or making irate phone calls to people's
bosses. Your office had a foul up; your office needs to fix it.
I look forward to a satisfactory conclusion to this.
