Being Mothered, Being Human

In a change from the usual, Mom came up to my apartment to visit me this weekend.  It was really nice having her here.  It was also the first time she got to meet Alonso, since I hadn't taken him home with me since I got him. The thing I like so much about Being Human is that it's so different from the kind of vampire supernatural stories that are all over right now. Whereas the rest of them seem to be all about how awesome and sexy it is to be supernatural, Being Human is more about how difficult the supernatural is, and about how being a vampire/werewolf/ghost actually kind of sucks. They're just trying really hard (and often failing) to be normal. You've got a vampire who keeps falling off the wagon, the nerdiest werewolf ever, and a super chipper ghost all inhabiting the same house and attempting to live normal, human lives. It's more about humanity than it is the supernatural, which is what makes it so amazing. If you check it out (which you should; it's a great supernatural show for people who are sick of the supernatural shows) make sure you check out the original BBC version; not the dumb Syfy knockoff.

That's why I say concise so much when I'm talking about being concise; it's just the perfect word for it. I think the opposite must be rambling; and I am the essence of rambling.
