Happiness Day 12

Happiness Challenge Day 12: A description or picture of someone who makes you happy.

Well, I've talked about April before, and I was going to talk about this last week sometime and I forgot, so I'll bring it up now. I have two younger cousins who are my whole world.  I still call them my 'little cousins' out of force of habit even though they're really not so little anymore. Mckenna's 13 and Savannah's 11, and Mckenna is almost as tall as I am. (She'll probably have me beat by her next birthday.) Not counting my stepsiblings, my paternal grandparents only have four grandchildren: Me, Trey, Mckenna, and Savannah, and growing up the girls always really looked up to me. (Especially Mckenna.) They're growing up so fast, and they're growing into such beautiful, talented, amazing girls, and I couldn't be prouder of them.

Well, Mckenna has this Spring Formal thing later this school year, and I saw her mother (my aunt) talking about going dress shopping on facebook, and so I mentioned that if the Spring Formal was one of those really formal formal events then Mckenna was welcome to either of my old prom dresses if she wanted them and they fit.  I tried them both on before I took them over to their house, and decided that the black lace one I wore junior year wouldn't fit her. (It's got a very fitted boned bodice, and it's strapless, and honestly, McK hasn't yet grown the necessary assets for holding it up. XD)  The red one I wore my senior year hasn't got the same kind of structure, and it laces up in the back so she'd be able to pull it as tight as necessary.  So I brought it over and she tried it on.

*sniff* They grow up so fast. *sniffle* Seems like only yesterday she was three and pulling me around by my pinky finger and locking Trey out of the back bedroom and I was getting blamed for it because "Three year olds don't know how to lock doors". (I will hold that against my grandfather for the rest of his life.)

There's Savannah lounging on the big chair, probably trying to think of a way to steal everyone's attention back. XD I was a bit worried that she'd end up looking inappropriately grown up in the dress, but that wasn't the case. She just looks like a really pretty young teenager. I dearly love that dress, and it looks so pretty on her. I never could get a really good picture though; the lighting at my grandparent's house isn't the best. (I should mention that these are the grandparents who own the giant plot of land purchased by my great-great-grandfather and paid for in prohibition-era moonshine profits, and so my aunt lives right next door to them.)

And the back of the dress:

And there's a better picture of Nan, as well. One of the things I loved about that dress was that the top layer of the skirt gets longer in the back then it is in the front, and it's beaded along the edge, too.

Here's a pic of me in the dress, so you can see what it looks like a bit better:

Okay, so I was just going to look for a picture where you could see how pretty the dress is, and then I found this picture, which I love for about a thousand reasons and it's my journal so here you go.  Taken at Coolidge Park in front of the Tennessee River (because if you live in Chattanooga, you will have your prom pictures taken at Coolidge Park. You just will.) It's such a beautiful view; you can see the river, a bit of the Market Street Bridge, and the top of the glass roofs of the Tennessee Aquarium. And then there's me and my date, Jordan, who was/still is one of my dearest guy friends. (We were going just as friends.) Jordan's another person who makes my life happy. He's such a brilliant nerd. One of those people who are just too smart.  Like, think Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory just slightly less neurotic and insane.  He's currently at Vanderbuilt studying like, super physics or something. (I don't even know what it is; he's one of like, 8 genius majoring in this one special kind of physics.) He's highly logical and almost too-smart to function and as much as I love him, I wanted to kill him nearly every day back in AP Calculus. (Stop arguing with the teacher Jordan, you understand it, just go with it.) Somedays it was just like, "Jordan, just go to Harvard and leave the rest of us alone."

Anywaysssssssssssss
A horrible picture of me and my wonderful cousin.

These girls are also the ones who dubbed Roxas "Hottie McHot-Hot". (Well, Savannah, at like, age 7, was the one who named him that. It was hilarious.)  I once thought that I'd like to do a cosplay with these two  as Kairi at three different ages. Nan could be little Kairi, McK could be KH1 Kairi, and I could be KH2 Kairi.  However, now that McK is getting so tall, I don't think that'll ever happen. XD

Long post is long.

ONE DAY I WILL LEARN TO BE CONCISE.
(But I spent most of it talking about the some of the brightest people in my life, so there. :P)

30 days of happiness, posts that are too long, family
