Murphy's Law Kicks my Snow Day's Butt

Jan 25, 2011 12:27

Murphy's Law states that if you do your homework the night before a snowstorm hits that expects 2-4inches of snowfall, you'll get the promised 4 inches of snowfall and get a snow day that means you won't have to turn that homework in until next week, which means that you stayed up late when you felt like crap for nothing.

IF, however, you look at that 90% chance of 2-4 inches of snow and  say, "I feel llike crap, and I'm almost definetly gonna get a snow day. Screw it, I'll do the stupid assignment tomorrow."

...Then you'll end up with an inch of snow and a 2 hour delay.  Hey, I thought this morning at 6:30am when I was checking the school closings, that's enough: classes normally start at 9, and my class would be over at 12, so starting at 11 wouldn't get much done, so that class will probably just be canceled.  So I set my alarm for 10:15 and went back to sleep because I'm sleep deprived and getting sick and I need my rest.

Then, at 11 oclock when I checked my email this morning, I get this email from my teacher:

"Good Morning!
As I'm sure you know, ------ is opening at 10:00. So unless we get much more snow between now and then, our class will meet. If you feel you should not come...please use your own judgement. If you know that you will not be coming, reply to this so I know. If I decide to make a change, I will email again before 9:00.
Above all else, be careful!!!!!!
SQ"
Also, for real, Sally, cut back on the exclamation points.
10:00? 10:00? It said 2 hour delay.  From what I heard we didn't have any classes that started before 9. Maybe there was one drawing class that started at 8?....

Well. Too late now. By the time I got my stuff together and got over there there'd be no point. And if I went, I'd be expected to turn in that homework that I didn't finish.

Super.

homework, snowpocalypse, school
