Hm. So I figured out why I couldn't get my antivirus to work properly the last couple of days.
The virus checker was infected by a virus.
A particularly nasty worm, it would seem, that had spread to most of the executable files on my computer. They were all still working, somehow. Just the antivirus.
I think this is the computer equivalent of AIDS, really.
My data seems to be intact, at the least, but I'm going to be reinstalling things for the next several hours. Wish me luck.
