Starting off the new year

So hey there! It has been a while. The past five weeks or so have been spent toiling away preparing for my Preliminary Exam. It was completed last Tuesday and the short story is that I passed. The final days before I turned in the report only required several 20 hour days and one 38 hour day. I slept really good that night. The report was a mere 78 pages long.

Before the actual exam I was more excited for the impending end than I was nervous for it. The exam was intense and lasted about 2 hrs and 20 minutes. But it is done. And I am very glad. I am now a Candidate for PhD.

Now I just need to finish my research and write and publish somewhere between 3 and 9 papers (depending on how research goes), make several apperances at national conferences, and then merge everything into a text document of length greater than 200 pages and defend it. Simple.
