I wish I understood the how/why works of the ketamine treatment.
.. until then I'll just enjoy the benefits! >:3 Definitely feeling a huge improvement! Learned a lesson this time, stick to the every three months timeline. Took about 16 days before feeling the more full effects of the treatment. I need to be patient next time and keep to the solid bed rest for ~4 days after the treatment and just pick a few series to nexflix binge to keep me in bed. Bright side is when I met with pain doc we are going to try out an anxiety Med just before the ketamine treatment next time. (My mental experience was the main reason I delayed going into it again rather than staying on the 3 month track, I just get in there and sit in a spiral of doubt and suicidal thoughts for 4 hours. Once they unhook me I am fine, it is just a rather torturous 4 hours of hell... maybe a Med prior to the treatment will help.) They have been using Versed during the treatment but the pain doc said that it more just to make me forget the experience. :/ Not sure if we have a fix for me throwing up after the treatment, that might just be a normal thing for me now on these 'top-off' sessions.
Today has been the first really strong no pain day. Got up early pretty easily and getting things done today.
It is just crazy how the fog clears one day and suddenly you feel back on track.
What confuses me about the ketamine treatment is how long it takes to kick in. Like with those that go in for depression, the effects are nearly immediate. And they kind of view the treatment like they do with using cymbalta for diabetic nerve pain, the effects should kick in fairly quickly if it is going to work. So how/why does it take like 10-14 days for the ketamine treatment to suddenly kick in for me? :> Just one of those questions the docs just kind of shrug and say not exactly sure why, but we see it works so keep doing it! >:3
Goal for the next month is to half the pain meds at night.
