Pepsi 400

I am smelly, exhausted, sunburned and sore all over, but today was sooo worth it. My first race day at Daytona, and what an adventure it was.

The short version: Dad and I went to bed late, go up way too early, went to 3 different gas stations to find a bag of ice, drove out to Daytona, and parked at Target. Got a ride from my aunt and uncle and their friends over to the track, played arcade games at Daytona USA in the a/c, got free stuff, sweated a ton, walked to the trailer the rest of my family was staying at. Relaxed for a while then walked about a mile to Outback for lunch, got a ride back to the trailer, and saw Boris Said on the way (he drove up next to us, so we didn't really meet him, we just kind of screamed at him as we drove by, lol). Relaxed for a while, took a 15-minute nap, walked probably another mile back to Target, walked back across the street to the stands where there was no more sun and a nice strong wind, and sat for an hour til the race started. The race was pretty good; no super-exciting wrecks, but Gordon ended up not finishing the race, and everyone in our section cheered when his car finally died. Watched some of the fireworks, left the stands, hopped a fence, hiked back to the truck, and got out of the parking lot real quick. Made good time coming back home too.

I took a ton of pictures and my camera died half-way through the race. My charger is still at my old apartment, so pictures will have to wait until I go back there (hopefully tomorrow). I did take some pictures with my cell phone and e-mailed them to my mom, and she sent them to me so I'll post those here at least, for now. Soon as I'm done, I'm taking a much-needed shower and promptly passing out in bed.

I wanna drive this thing!

Our view out to turn 1 and 2.

Junior! Came out much better than I was expecting.
