I hope the addition of "trans" to my category is acceptable, I felt it only fair to include. I was unsure about the status tags, since this is sort of a unique situation, so mods, feel free to pick one or the other if you feel it's necessary! Otherwise, I tend to think both actually apply in this case :)

They really are :) It's kinda weird, though, because I'm having the same issues Dane is with Cale's pronouns and stuff >.< I was not expecting her to be trans, originally, or to show up in Dane's life again. But he needed a happy ending, and this is how that turned out. Fate, right?

We apparently had much the same idea, lol. I do like how he gets confused, and yet not confused, about Cale and his maleness.

TheOtherDibbler is correct; Matt was the other ex :) Cale kept her name since a) it's gender-neutral, b) she likes it, and c) she loves her moms too much to change her name. Sorry if that was vague, I work a lot with these characters and their families, so sometimes I take information for granted! >_<'

Thank you! Yes, these are pretty well-established characters of mine, focused mainly on Dane's godfather and his husband, and there's so much queer in that family it's like rainbows are just puking everywhere :P Yeah, I actually had a sort of similar experience personally (minus the fluffiness, lol) when an ex of mine told me she was trans. I'd always wondered why it was so hard for people to get pronouns right, and then I discovered why first hand! It took me months to be able to call her by her preferred name and pronouns in my head. Dane has much more experience than I. Also, within the timeline of their story, this wouldn't take place until sometime in the 2030s (kinda crazy, that o_O), when I hope there will be a lot more flexibility in our minds and language as far as gender is concerned :)
