Summary: Cory was awkward and Joseph was mildly annoyed. But not with Cory.
Joseph grinned into his drink as he sat in his corner and watched the waitress flirt with Cory. If he had to admit to himself, the he would have to say that he was annoyed. Mildly, but still annoyed. He had stood up from their table to order something when she had stopped him half way there and began to talk to him.
Cory looked awkward from where he was trying to run away from the insistent girl, but the girl seemed to not care that he was trying to give her the slip.
Joseph wondered if he should go help his new friend out, but he debated, wondering what he could do. Finally making up his mind, he stood up and walked over to where Cory stood, awkwardly shuffling.
“Babe,” Joseph asked, wrapping an arm around Cory's waist. “Something wrong? I was worried when you didn't come back.”
The blush that filled Cory's cheeks made Joseph smile, warming his insides.
“N-no,” Cory replied, turning his head so that his face was in Joseph's shoulder.
“Did you order?”
“No.”
“Then let's go, what's holding you up?”
Joseph spared a glare to the waitress before leading Cory away by his hold on the other's hip.
“Thank you so much,” Cory whispered when they were finally away from the peeved girl. “I thought she would never leave me alone.”
Joseph laughed before shaking his head. “It's fine. I had a feeling that you were feeling awkward while she was talking to you. Thought I might step in.”
Cory nodded his head as they stood in line. “Y-you can let go of me.”
“I don't think I will.”
Cory looked up, shocked that Joseph had said something like that. “But I just met you! How could you be so close to me already? Don't you hate me?”
Joseph reeled back without letting go of Cory. “No! Why are you thinking that way? If course I wouldn't hate you! Why would I hate you?”
“Because I'm gay. I thought you were just playing off that...” Cory trailed off and Joseph just shook his head with a soft smile.
“I think I like you, so your being gay only helps me. Don't worry about it.”
Cory blushed as he looked Joseph straight in the eye. “Are you serious?” he asked.
“As a heart attack. Now, order your coffee so we can go sit down and snuggle like a proper couple should.”
