Kids Weekend

Jul 20, 2008 19:54

I brought the kids home today (ok, not home, but the drop off point) after the weekend visit. I miss them so much and they are getting so BIG. I feel like I have missed ages of things. Damn the distance!!

Scott and I picked them up Thursday night. We didn't get home till after 10pm, so once in. The beds were created and little ones were sent off to sleep. Even if it did take an hour for them to settle. I'm the auntie, what do you expect, forced to bed right away?

Friday the demons were up at freaking 6:30am. It is my day off...I WANTED TO SLEEP IN!! Oh well, so I got showered and dressed. Got the demons together and we left Scott to work at home and we went and had a nice breakfast. From there, we stopped by home to drop off Scott's breakfast and then off to the post office and then the library for almost an hour and a half. I was shocked by this, I thought they would be bored, but they did a bug hunt, a bat search and got to enter a raffle where they gave the kids like 200 raffle tickets for. It was really cute actually. Abby sat at the take for 45 minutes filling out her forms, insistant she was going to win the Vermont Teddy Bear and me trying to explain what a raffle meant for the 100th time in the last 5 minutes. We had a lot of fun though. Then we ran home, packed a bag and cooler for the local pool and headed out for lunch with Tracy and Morgan and then we all went to the pool for the afternoon. Much fun was had by all!

Saturday was the lazy day. I took the kids out for Spencer's final birthday gift. A game from Game Stop. He picked the Guitar Hero for the DS. Now this is a funny thing, Spencer didn't bring his DS to CT. He left it home. So him picking a DS game was a little odd to me, I mean seriously, I'm instant gratification girl. I would have bought something I can play NOW! (I did hear he had that game going minutes after he walked through his door.) We had family day, which was Scott and Spencer playing video games and Me and Abby sewing together. Then after dinner we played all together for the night. Then bed times came around and the moods changed. Poor things.

This morning was breakfast, packing and final moment cuddles and tickle wars. The kids were eager to get home and see there mom and Greg, but also sad to leave me. The kids just don't like the distance between us all and when they need to leave they get really upset. It has gotten worse now that there father is pretty much non-existant. Plus Spencer had the added fear I was going to force him to see his father. I can't explain enough that I would never do that, the 10 year olds fears will always over power. His father has become a monster is this kids eyes and it saddens me. My brother will never gain these years back and he has no idea what he is missing in these beautiful children.

A few hours after my drive home from the drop off, I called the kids as promised to prove I was not road kill and they began the process of wanting to know when they can come one again. *sigh* If I had the money, I would take them every other weekend, but I'm sure no one gets as excited about them coming as I do. Except maybe them.

What did I do tonight? NOTHING! I am freaking beat, those little turds tire me out. I wouldn't trade them for the world!!

Off to play Boom Blox on the Wii or Lego Indiana Jones. Hmmm....

kids, jay
