Sakura cursed her luck. Never mind that days ago she was rejoicing because of said luck, she was now convinced the Gods were here to do her in. It was the middle of winter, and they were in Snow Country. She was, to put it mildly, freezing her sorry ass off.

She had been ecstatic when Tsunade had assigned her to be a temporary medic to Itachi’s ANBU team for the winter rotation. Which kunoichi wouldn’t be? Uchiha Itachi’s ANBU team was the top in Konoha, in both skill and appearance. The elite team consisted of the Uchiha genius, Konoha’s infamous flirt, and the best bug user in the village.

Sakura thought she had died and gone to heaven. Not only did this give her a chance to improve as a kunoichi, it gave her a chance to be with her latest crush for a whole season (though she would rather die than admit to her teammates, especially Sasuke that she had the hots for his brother).

Now, sitting alone in three feet of snow, the pink haired medic was far from ecstatic. In fact, she thought she would rather eat ramen with Naruto for a whole year instead of this torture. Stealing a glance at the simple watch wrapped around her pale wrist, she almost shouted with excitement.

Her shift was over. She was free to go back to the dirty but warm inn! Moving as gracefully as the snow allowed, she raced back to the inn, ignoring the biting winter air. The inn itself was far from luxury, with its musty scent and infinite layers of dust. Sakura took no notice as she walked as fast as her legs would carry her towards the room she shared with the others.

Going by seniority, she would have never been able to sleep in the bed. But being the men they were, she always got the bed. And she had made the mistake of getting used to it. She was expecting a nice warm shower, and a comfy bed when she barged into the room.

However, instead of the bed and warm shower, she was greeted with cold water thanks to Itachi, and Shino splayed on the bed.

“Shut the door. You are letting all the cold air in.”

Sakura snapped her head to the right incredulously. She opened her mouth to retort, but nothing came out. Itachi stood, inches away clad in nothing but a towel around his hips.

“Sakura. I do not like to repeat myself.” The pink haired medic regained her composure as she quickly shut the door. It’s nothing you haven’t seen before she chanted in her head. Stop staring. Stop. Stop. Stop. A delicate blush, barely perceptible spread across her face. Redirecting her gaze at Shino for safe measures, she raised her eyebrows slightly.

“Is he injured?”

“Aa. But it is not serious.” Sakura nodded at his words before making her way to her other teammate. The bug user was asleep, and a quick once over told her Itachi had done quite a nice job bandaging the wound. Small pale hands glowed green, pausing over the wound. It only took a few seconds to heal.

“I’ll be showering now.”

He didn’t reply. The still freezing pink haired medic scowled. She knew he was smirking that damn Uchiha smirk. She stripped quickly, and stepped into the shower just a quickly. The shorter it took the better. She didn’t need to be getting hypothermia while being in the inn.

Ten minutes later a shivering Sakura emerged from the bathroom. Teeth chattering slightly, she made her way towards the ground where Itachi was perched, meditating. Goosebumps formed over the small body that was slowly turning an alarming shade of blue.

Dropping down onto the makeshift futon on the ground, she curled into fetal position unconsciously, trying to preserve what was left of her body heat. The thin covers did nothing to warm her.

Itachi’s eyes opened slowly, and almost flinched at the sight in front of him. The usually headstrong medic was curled in a tight ball, half dry hair sticking out at odd angles, skin an alarming mix of ghostly pale and blue. Sighing inwardly, he grabbed the warm blanket his okaa-san had shoved into his bag and moved towards the girl. He didn’t want the medic developing a case of hypothermia during the mission.

It only took him a moment to realize she was no longer conscious. More worried than annoyed now, he straightened her out of fetal position and draped the warm blanket over her. However, the shivering didn’t stop. Eyebrows twitching slightly, the Uchiha prodigy dropped down next to her. In one quick move, he was under the blanket and had pressed the petite shivering body to his warm one.

The Uchiha smirked into her hair. Even he, the emotionless Uchiha heir, had hormones.
