No matter how many peopled deemed him childish and immature, Joffrey was no fool. He’d heard the whispers about his father’s bastards, each one with hair blacker than the previous, their Baratheon lineage displayed proudly for all the world to see. Yet neither he, Myrcella nor Tommen had the dark hair and defined jawline of their parentage, or even a trace of the prominent Baratheon features to show. They were each as delicate, fair and blonde as their lady mother. So alike, in fact that, that they looked near carbon copies of her.
Looking at all his Lannister cousins, Joffrey could always see evidence of both mother and father in their features. That left Joffrey with only one possible way to explain away his parentage. His father was definitely a Lannister, one that looked near identical to his mother. There was only one Lannister that fit that description - who looked more like Cersei Lannister than her own twin brother?
Joffrey scowled. No matter what the truth was, he would never consider Jaime his father. Kingslayer and glorious Jaime might be, but Joffrey had been born a Baratheon, and he would carry that name with him until his last name day.
