It will probably never be enough, he knows.
She is too broken, too unwilling, and too blind to see anything that could be. She goes through the motions of life and living, but she does not live. Her soul is broken - or rather, she thinks it is, and so it will be. She rejects any attempt at resurrection, though she may not know it. He wants to save her, to drag her out of the Hell she is stuck in, but she is unwilling to leave. She looks, but she sees straight through him, and the world around her. He wants to open her eyes for her, wants to tell her, to yell at her that even though he only has one, he still sees more than she does.
He thinks that they would and should be perfect.
He is also broken, unwilling and blind. Broken because he lost everything - it seems he is Satan’s personal
messenger, because everything and everyone he knows seems to be dying in sequence. He too is unwilling - and he has sufficient reason, he thinks. He is unwilling to let that hurt flood him again, to let the despair of losing everything consume him again. So he rejects everything, because he is unwilling. He is blind too. Literally, but figuratively as well. He has seen far more than he wants to, but even through all that, he feels he does not see at all, does not see what the world really should be.
But they are not perfect, because as he knows now, two negatives do not make a positive.
He wants so desperately to fix her, to revive her into what she once was, what she is supposed to be. But he cannot, because he does not know how to. He wants to bring sunshine back into her unseeing viridian orbs, but he cannot, because he has not seen sunshine in a lifetime, either. He wants to guide her through life’s path, wants to bring her back to the world of the Living, but he is unable to. How can he pull someone up, when he too is down?
How can he save her, if he has yet to be saved himself?
But he tries, the best way he can.
He knows though, that it will never be enough.
