Just got back from "I Want to Believe".

Ok, so first off, was I the only one who got a huge smile on their face and the shivers when you first hear the music and see the logo up on the big screen? I thought not. :P I didn't get the pleasure of seeing the first movie in theatres (wasn't a fan then) so this was a real treat for me, seeing my Mulder and Scully up on screen. :P I really enjoyed the movie. I liked that they nodded to the series, multiple times, but they didn't isolate the audience (I went with a friend who wasn't a big fan of the show, she assured me that it was ok). :P The only thing she was sort of confused by, I think, was the William reference. But I mean...you can't just ignore their son.

So anyway, the plotline...well, it felt like an episode. A really long episode, but...it wasn't bad. Very twisted and creepy. While more....terrestrial than what the X-files usually dealt with, I think it fit. I mean, it's a different Mulder and Scully, so it was a different X-file. I thought it was funny that the same themes still popped up, Scully having to question her faith and take advice from someone she didn't really trust (but believed anyway), Scully mentioning how it's all about Mulder searching for Samantha (break anyone else's heart when you finally heard him say she was dead?)...it just felt very right. Oh and Mulder getting beat up. Duh. It's the X-files. I was actually waiting all movie for it. But then he really got it....poor baby. I was actually whimpering as he pulled himself out of the car and my friend just laughed at me.

And I loved the fact that they left no doubt in our minds about Mulder and Scully. The "scratchy beard" line was just so cute and so Scully, and what's even better is that right after that, Mulder goes and shaves it off. He wants some Scully lovin! :P I just found that scene really adorable, mostly because it reminded me of the scene in.......the last episode of the seventh season that I cannot remember the name of for the life of me. :P But you know what scene I'm talking about. And the end credit bit was cute, with them in the boat. Aww......sunshine and happiness.

And Skinner! I totally knew he was going to come in when Scully told Xzibit agent guy to get her someone with the balls to do what she wanted. Totally knew it would be Skinner because it completely reminded me of "Triangle". :P And every other time that he's bailed their asses out of trouble.

So yeah...I'm pleased with the movie. I really am. It felt like the X-files and Chris Carter didn't take my heart and stomp mercilessly on it (Joss Whedon, RTD, take notes here please).

Plus...dude. Seeing the X-files up on the movie screen! It was so awesome! :P Our theatre was empty though....probably at most forty people. :P Go die hard fans that don't care about sleep deprivation. :D
