I don't read the script. The script reads me

Yeah, so still in madly in love with Garo. Totally don't give a crap that its not artistic or classic and that it is more or less on the cheesy side. I love it because its all about hot blooded, manly action with more than a few surreal scenes that make me go "WTF, did that woman's eyes really get replaced by two arms? Is he really riding on the hood of a  a car down the side of a building like its a goddamn surfboard?"
And mainly, I love it because of my OTP, Kouga and Kaoru which sadly enough was largely absent from the movie version Beast of the White Night. Which is probably why I tend to fast forward through the movie a lot.

But there was one scene in the first half of the movie that made watching the whole thing worth it and pretty much cemented Kouga/Kaoru for me. Its when he's in some sort of mystical forest on a rescue mission when he's face with illusions from his past, friends and foe and even his own dad, whom he is then forced to fight. For the most part, he is able to do it. But then it takes the appearance of Kaoru and suddenly he hesitates. Even though he should know better and that its not her, he can't help but be horrified when he thinks he's hurt her. When it comes to Kaoru, its just gut instinct that he protect her which is why the illusion is able to get the jump on him. And then, just as he does get his emotions under control and he slays all the illusions, when it comes to hers, he still hesitates. Its like he has to force himself to kill "Kaoru". When he does, the look on his face when she smiles at him (after he's run her through with a sword) and proudly calls him strong and he's just devastated by what he's done. That scene just sort of took my breath away.

So here are some crap quality screen caps of that scene:

Proving that no matter how well trained a guy, he'll throw common sense out the window once he thinks he made the girl he's sweet on cry.

Illusion!Kaoru totally fights like a girl.

The end of the battle where Kouga has killed the illusions of his enemies, his fellow Knight, and his own dad. Now all that's left is Kaoru....which wouldn't be hard if Kouga wasn't stupidly in love with her.

Ok, I guess I could see why he would have a hard time, judging from the way she's looking at him in the third photo. So he gets his game face on and he runs her through with his sword. (How I wish that was a metaphor for something else and yes I do have a dirty mind because damnit, this couple is repressed!)

I like how Illusion!Kaoru pulls his face closer as though they're about to kiss. When they actually have her actress act as something other than genki, she's actually quite good.

Awww...that right there just killed me. She really is a weakness of his.

Then she melts away. And apparently killing an apparition of his sort of, long distance girlfriend is enough to make him go medieval on a mystical tree. And that's when I hit fast forward having had my fetish for this OTP satisfied.
This OTP just reminds me why the whole icy guy/ bubbly girl trope always gets me.
