Tea-moment in wonderland

Author: huffy_chan
Chapters: one-shot
Band/Charecters: references to Hiko/Rei (DANGER GANG)
Rating: G
Genre: AU, humor, crack-ish
Disclaimer: This story's a complete and utter work of fiction.

A/N:The idea for this sparked from the fact that Hiko would be amazingly perfect as Mad Hatter -or can someone disagree? C'mon, Hiko and a tophat? Rei ended up being Alice, Waka The Cheshire Cat and Thera is March Hare (although it might not be obvious in the story). Originally, I was going to watch Disney's version of Alice In Wonderland, or even read the book before writing this but.... I didn't manage. Lazy person is lazy.

Summary: Drinking tea in Wonderland is anything but boring, especially because Hiko is crazy about pranks and Waka has a sugar addiction.

"More tea?"

"Yes, please."

Hiko lifted a white porcelain teapot and poured steaming-hot tea into her and Thera's cups.

It was a beautiful afternoon: the sun felt pleasantly warm against the faces of the party. They had decided to come to the garden to enjoy good tea and each other's company. Leaves in trees swung lazily in the summery breeze, and flowers were humming a gleeful melody close to the ground.

Waka was laying on soft grass, swinging her legs slowly purring; she was seemingly enjoying herself. Her ears covered in pink fur turned as she heard steps. Rei appeared soon, smiling, from behind a rose bush, wearing a baby-blue dress with puffy sleeves. She had wrapped a white apron around her waist, and her flushed cheeks were covered in flours. A wide grin spread across Waka's face as she realized Rei had baked a humongous pile of cupcakes with different flavors.

"What are those?" Hiko asked, doubting the edibility of the pastries. She dropped the tenth piece of sugar into her tea.

"Cupcakes, you idiot!" Rei snorted, slightly upset, and hit the plate onto the table. The place shook and a few pastries rolled off it and continued till they disappeared under the table.

Waka's back crouched up while she put her ears back -the sudden little tantrum had scared her.

"I'm so sorry, Waka, I didn't mean it," Rei apologized and bent down to scratch the cat girl's head. She started purring happily under Rei's touch. "There!" Rei exclaimed and grabbed a cupcake with pink icing which she then threw a few meters away from the table. Waka darted after the sugar bomb, meowing a little, and after a moment of playing with her prey, she pierced the sweet icing with her teeth, the whole time purring wildly.

Rei watched Waka play for a moment before she pulled a chair painted white and sat down neatly, crossing her ankles like fancy ladies did. She took a fulfilled cup from Hiko. She lifted the cup to her lips, smiling widely as a hot puff of steam brushed against her face, and took a sip. Thera's brows arched questioningly when she saw Rei's face scrunching up. She spat the tea out of her mouth (as sophisticatedly as possible, of course) and poured the rest into a nearby bush. A few obscure hollers rose up as the flowers shook their pedals that were now wet with tea. Hurt, they stood up and went away, cursing a little as doing so.

"I'm sorry..." Rei mumbled after them, and placed her cup down onto the table, smacking her lips in a disgusted manner. "Who put sugar in my tea? It's sickeningly sweet."

Hiko lifted the brim of her top hat with her index finger and gave the blond girl a baffled look. "It had only seven pieces."

Rei's eyes enlarged a little as she realized it was Hiko who had put sugar secretly in her tea. "Do you know how hard it is to try not to gain weight?" She murmured, her voice sounding almost desperate, and pushed the cup and its saucer further away from herself, as if the items could've bitten her -well, no one would've wondered if it had happened; Hiko's sense of humor was somewhat funky. She was good at finding the weirdest of objects for her practical jokes. "I want to look slim, not like a whale."

Hiko rolled her eyes, snorting to herself, and grabbed a chocolate cupcake with whipped cream and cookie chips from the table. "You're dreaming of a small butt, yet you bake stuff like this? There's a word for occasions like this, wait... Yes, it's contradictory," Hiko spoke out slowly, as if she had hard time finding a certain word from the depths of her complicated mind.

Rei's cheeks turned bright pink as she went through all the oven-fresh pastries on her mind that she had eaten in the kitchen, not to mention all the spoons and bowls she had licked clean of dough.

Just when Rei was about to say something defensive, the blond woman flinched as she felt something warm and furry rubbing itself against her hand. She looked down and saw Waka sitting next to her, the corners of her mouth full of cupcake crumbles.

"What is it?" She asked, softly cooing, and reached closer to give her another scratch. Waka meowed and began to rub herself against Rei even harder.

"You want to come up, you want to sit on my lap?" Rei babbled and patted her apron-hidden lap thighs invitingly. Waka smirked, and it took only a few moments before she was already sitting in her embrace, her briskly waggling tail signaling satisfaction. She was clearly content with her current location, and while enjoying the petting, she reached closer to the table and started stealing the fancy-looking cupcakes, one by one, hiding them then in her pockets.

Hiko lifted her feet onto the table and fished a wooden pipe from a pocket of her wine-red coat. She lighted it in accustomed manners, a sweet scent soon spreading across the garden. Hiko blew out smoke rings that vanished almost instantly. With her pointy boot, she pushed the teapot away, so that there would be more room for her feet. Satisfied, she leant her head against the backrest of the chair, sighing happily.

"Nothing beats the old man's tobacco." She chuckled, very pleased with the way things were, hanging the pipe from the corner of her mouth.

Waka's nose wrinkled. Annoyed because of the smoke, she crawled off Rei's lap -after stealing one last cupcake, that was. Then, she snuck under the table, only her tail peeping from under the helm of the lace-made table cloth.

Rei pouted because Waka had went away but forget about it a second later. She pulled out an old-fashioned alarm clock from the pocket of her apron. "Hmm," she muttered as she looked at the worn-out screen of the clock. She put the clock back to its place, still looking ponderous.

"What?" Hiko asked, blowing a large ring right against Thera's voice. She shot a murderous eyeful at the chuckling girl.

"I think I was supposed to get up by now. After all, it's a little past eight already," Rei mumbled, propping her chin on her open palm.

Thera's left ear perked up. She cast another disbelieving look at Hiko who was trying to hide her smirk by turning the collars of her jacket upwards.

Rei followed the direction of Thera's gaze. Hiko's lips began twitching.

"...You turned off the alarm, didn't you?" Rei's tone of voice was freezing as she slowly stood up. Hiko burst into hysterical fits of giggles; her pipe fell onto the ground.

"Hiko! I was supposed to visit my parents today, and you know it takes many hours to drive there!" Rei cried.

Thera bent down just enough to grab Hiko's pipe from the ground. She pulled her knees against her chest and as she was curiously watching the fight of the two other women, she placed the pipe loosely in between her lips. Waka crawled from under the table, a cream cupcake in her paws, and started licking off the icing after she realized nothing serious had happened -the ruckus had turned out to be of the normal kind.

Hiko managed to dodge the lemon-fudge pastry Rei had thrown. Hiko was going to go all "ner ner" on Rei's bad aim when Waka stormed after the pastry and accidentally, pushed Hiko who then fell down with a crash. "Goddammit, Waka, now nothing's going to save you from turning into a nice pair of mitte---"

Hiko started awake. She remained still for a moment before she tried to get up but a flash of pain in her back halted her; she had fallen from the bed.

Troublesomely she scrambled up, the backache worsening. She looked at the bed where Rei was still sleeping, vaguely mumbling something in her sleep. Hiko stretched her limbs, yawning, but stopped then abruptly.

Secretly, she had turned Rei's alarm off because it was her well-earned day off and she had wanted to sleep late with Rei.

I was supposed to visit my parents today...

Hiko's brows knitted together. She was still a bit drowsy; her brain wasn't able to properly connect that sentence to any recent conversation with Rei.

...and you know it takes many hours to drive there!

Hiko swung around. Rei had mentioned about it a few days ago, when they had been dining in that restaurant. She backed a few steps, gathered the clothes she had worn the day before from atop the backrest of an arm chair and crept quickly out of the room.

She didn't want to be there when Rei would figure she had overslept because of Hiko.
