Particle physics question

(Fed the snake last night, he had just shed and was very hungry)

in the last 3 minutes of his talk,  Nima Arkani-Hamed refers to experiments looking for low mass weakly interacting particles
http://www.cornell.edu/video/?videoID=913&startSecs=6375&endSecs=6549

particles interacting 1000 times more weakly than normal, at low masses (energies), which have been missed for 50 years, being looked for now using low energy but high intensity colliders.

Anyone know what he's talking about?  Googling has failed me so far.
