To be fair, my interest in plant life goes beyond the ordinary, I'm relatively certain.

That's typically my problem too.

A cactus would be really good! Orchids are also surprisingly easy to take care of despite how fragile they look, but I think in the grand scheme of things cacti are much more resilient.

If you'd like one, I have a few in the greenhouse that are likely brave enough and resilient enough to go on an adventure with you ^~^/
