Kokoro Onda (Nao Matsushita) is a medical oncologist. She decided to become a doctor to save people. After she graduated from medical school, she began to work in the radiology department. Working there, she saved a cancer patient through diagnostic imaging. This led her to pursue the field of oncology. She transferred to the tumor internal medicine department.
Kokoro Onda is dedicated to her patients. She meets surgeon Kaoru Kajiyama (Yoshino Kimura), who specializes in gastroenterology. Kaoru Kajiyama was recently transferred to the hospital where Kokoro Onda works. The two women begin to work as colleagues and also become friends. (asiawiki-2020)
I didn't hesitate much before picking this drama... I like both actresses and I've read a couple of comments that said this drama was similar to "Kounodori". Well, nothing farther from it. I get WHY these comments were posted -it is a medical drama that relies heavily on people's lives and trying to overcome hard times, a bond born between doctor and patient, sad stories, nice stories, etc, etc.
Except, this drama doesn't have a great script like Kounodori. The "sad" parts were a bit too overdone for my liking, like the older woman who touches Kokoro's and Kaoru's heart. I could see that the idea was to put people to cry and I hate that in some dramas. Or you make things subtle and well written or don't do it at all, don't try to convince me this is all sad and don't try to make me cry.. I won't.
Cast was OK.. besides Matsushita Nao and Kimura Yoshino, I liked both intern doctors, the young ones. The kid playing Kokoro's son was such a bad actor :S and the doctor who is the real culprit has such a sleazy aspect... he always plays the most annoying characters.
It was an ok drama. It got better around ep 8 but the last ep was MEH, too many things happenings and all too dramatic.
My rating: **6/10**
