Hands down, the best part of adjusting to a new city is exploring it. My first week here was like a first date where you are just getting to know a person. and the more you like them, the more you want to know about them. i love how much i learn every single day about miami beach. i enjoy the sounds outside my balcony, the smell of the old art deco buildings, and seeing all the crazy places and people in this city. my new favorite hobby is putting coco on her leash, and just walking wherever the sidewalk takes me. the other night my new friend mischel and i headed out, not knowing what we were gonna end up doing. i found a wrap/smoothie place 2 blocks away that is open 24 hours, which i am really excited about. i tried gelato on the corner of 5th and ocean and i can't wait to go back. we saw a crazy cat lady dumping 2 boxes of food on the ground in an alley, and now I know who supports all of south beach's strays. then we got calamari from opa and ate that on the sidewalk as all the pretty people headed to Nikki Beach. Yesterday a man told me he wanted to die and come back as Coco in his next life, so he could come home with me. Very creepy, but amusing at the same time. I love it.

2 days a week at Opa is just not cutting it, so i got another little job for the side. i'm a receptionist at the world erotic art museum. that's right kids, i work at the sex museum. hopefully time management won't be a problem when season rolls around, because i think this is a sweet opportunity. I'm getting my foot in the door as far as a desk job goes, which will look good on a resume, and why not do it while looking at sculptures of giant penises? eventually i wanna get into concierge work, or something with event planning. i want to be invited to fabulous dinners and parties for free, and be treated like royalty just because the company wants you there so you can reccommend them. that's pretty much what nadia does at the tides. i love going out with her and being her guest. tonight we have dinner reservations at Tantra. I've never been but i'm excited. i can order anything on the menu and not pay a dollar for it. all we do is give them nadia's business card and leave a tip for the server. i wanted to do something part-time at the tides, but they're hesitant to hire any more students. they don't wanna have to work around any more school schedules, which i guess is understandable. and i can't do full-time because I can't afford not to have a restaurant job during season. I hate it. i'm so sick of working in restaurants and bars, but it's so hard to get out of. You just can't beat the money. I know i've said it before, and i'll probably be saying the same thing next year, but this is my last season. after this is over, i wanna be done with the restaurant business. i hope i keep my word.
