Office Noise
I forgot to post this one. One day at work, it was all quiet. Everyone was thumping away at their keyboards, heads buried in their computers; some with headphones on and others just off in their own little world (I was in the latter group that day). Well, when it's quiet like that, nobody wants to yell two rows over to talk to someone else. So Girl #1 calls Girl #2 on my team. (These are two of my underlings.)
Girl #1: Hey, what's up?
Girl #2: Not much. I'm not going to be in the office tomorrow, but I need to follow up with this broker.
Girl#1: Ok, just send me an email with all the details and I'll call for you. No problem.
(In the meantime, Girl #2's other line is ringing.)
Girl #2: all rushed - Ok, I have another call. I'll get you the information in a bit. Love you! Bye. (and she hangs up)
I look up from my desk and Girl #1 is just staring at her phone while still holding the earpiece up to her ear. I start CRACKING UP laughing out loud. Girl #1 turns around and asks: "Did you hear what she just said to me?" all incredulously.
I said, "Well, apparently, she loves you!" By now everyone on my team is pulling headphones off, looking around. Those without the headphones are laughing so hard. Meanwhile, Girl #2 is still on the phone. She finally hangs up and she's like "What on earth is everyone laughing about??".
Girl #1 gets all huffy and says to Girl #2, "Sure, you are all in love with me 5 minutes ago, and now you can't even remember it! I see how it is. You just love em and leave em, huh?". By now I'm just dying. Girl #2 almost falls out of her chair, laughing. She says, "You know, I thought I might have said that to you. See, I do that to my husband when I want to rush him off the phone. I'll just be like 'Love you! Bye.' so that I can hang up quickly."
So then today, Girl #1 calls Girl #2 for a favor and says "Hey, A? (not going to use her real name here) ... Te Amo." and giggles before hanging up.
You probably had to be there to understand how funny it was. But I'm telling you, it was hella funny!
