uhhh... why does GRATITUDE own me so hard?
so... today was FUCKING AMAZING!!! probably the best day i've had in a long time!!!
here's the BREAKDOWN (Insert Beloved's "Insult to Injury" here... just for you dave ;)
so i woke up late... don't really remember what time it was... i wasn't really watching clocks much today! lol. woke up to the sweetest voice there is ;) Sarah had called me to figure out what the plans were for today, so i told her to come over whenever, and she decided to come early and spend the day with me before the concert... so i was very happy about that!! so i dragged my ass out of bed... and went through the regular morning routine... then I came online and puttered around until Sarah came. When she finally came, she had made me a brownie/cake for my B-day! it was so awesome... she said she tried to carvee the words "happy birthday" out of strawberries to put on it... but it proved too difficult so it came out as "HB" (short for hapy birthday obviously) but it was awesome! the "HB" looked sweet!
anyways... we just hung out and caught up and talked for a while, it was pretty sweet... then my dad came home and he took me to the drivers license store (which is obviously not what it's called) cause my license is fucked and he wanted to see if i could get a new one before Aus. BUT! nope... takes 4 weeks... so we got them to send one anyways (cause mine is totally ruined) then he took us back home. at home, i decided that Sarah needed to watch "Spirited Away" (for those of you who don't know... it's a Studio Ghibli film... aka: Japanese Anime) It's one of my favourite movies, and i knew she had never seen it, and plus for some reason, things that i enjoy, or things that make me happy always remind me of sarah... and i always want to share those things with her... so it was cool that we had some time to kill this afternoon!
anyways, halfway through the movie, Umar called me and i had a bunch of his stuff... so he came by to get it, and ended up watching the second half of the movie with us (it was his movie anyways, lol) anyways... Sarah said she liked it. It's pretty magical/fantasy-ish/wierd so i thought she might like it.
pretty much after the movie ended, Adam called and we were off to the see Spitalfield, The Honorary Title, Gratitude and Stralyight Run.
so we drive down and get inside and go straight for merch... and i had gone in planning on buying Straylight merch as 1st priority, but then we see all the stuff, and this Gratitude Track Jacket totally catches my eye... it's so sexy... huge blue flower on the front and "gratitude" written in blue on the back at the bottom. it's so awesome. it turns out the same track jacket had also caught Sarah's eye, and we both ended up buying it (cause it's so damn sexy) so we go upstairs at the phoenix to see if we might want to watch from the balcony... so we watched Spitalfield from the balcony... but after that, i couldn't handle it... at a concert, I need to be as close as i can get... and i don't really like sitting at concerts... i feel like i'm disrespecting the band. Maybe it's because i'm in a band myself, but when we're playing, I don't want to see people sitting, I want people to be up and enjoying the music. So generally my new rule (where applicable i.e. not stadium shows) WHEN YOU'RE ENJOYING A BANDS MUSIC, GET UP AND SHOW THEM!!!
so anyways, we go downstairs before 'the honorary title' begins playing... and they were alright, nothing fantastic, but enjoyable. then we wait around for Gratitude, and i start to get really excited... then Gratitude played their set. OH MAN... it was sooo fucking good... Jonah (the singer) has INCREDIBLE stage presence... in my eyes, Gratitude were definetly the highlight of the night... they played a SOLID set, every note was there vocally and musically... and Jonah has such passion for what he's doing on stage! it's so sweet (he sang to me at one point... it was beautiful)
after gratitude's set, they said they'd be by the merch table meeting fans and whatnot, so we went over there, and waited for a bit, but no Jonah! so we head back expecting to see him with a mob of fans somewhere in the hallway, we found him, but with a relatively small mob... i basically told him that his set was amazing, and Jonah is such an awesome guy. he seemed genuinely grateful that i was moved by their music... it was awesome
then Straylight played, and their set fucking owned too! they played all the songs i wanted them to, and they played them all really well! plus that girl = damn hot!
long story short, i'm glad i got Gratitude merch over Straylight, because they STOLE the show for sure.
anyways, after the show, we left and drove back to town, and the drive was amazing... listening to music, chillin with good friends, it was good times... and i felt totally inspired. I was geting amazing ideas for lyrics that have no song yet... but will soon enough! and then we stopped at Tim hortons/mcdonalds for some grub and it was off to Uxbridge to drop Sarah off...
the drive to uxbridge was the best part... sarah put her extra sweater on my knee and laid down in the back of the car, and i put my hand on her head and it was so awesome it might not sound like a huge thing... but to me it was... it made me feel so happy, and comfortable(sorry for the mushy/emo stuff... fuck off if you don't like it)
anyways, we got to Sarah's house, and i helped her carry some crap inside, and her sister came to the door... Kim recently shaved her head for a charity fundraiser, and i hadn't seen her in a while, so it was my first experience with her shaved head, it was pretty cool... big-ups to her for going through with it!! how many other 1st year, female university students would agree to shave their head? not many. and plus it's a good cause, so word.
anyways, then we dropped shannon off, and then Adam dropped me off and here I am!!! that's it for today!!! pretty exciting eh?!
anyways, this week (before leaving for australia) I'm SUPER BUSY!!! and not like i'm doing anything super important... just i have a lot of people i would like to see before I go.
so in case anyone wants to say goodbye before leaving, and hasn't been fit into the schedule yet... here's the BREAKDOWN (insert Haste The Day's "American Love" here)
tomorrow: Band Practice, dinner @ home, Umar's for Star Wars: Clone Wars Vol.2
Thursday: Buy a bunch of CD's, get hair cut by theresa
Friday: not completely scheduled yet...here's what i'm hoping: Visit with Seneca Peeps (i know we discussed thursday, but i don't know if i'll be free anymore, so i was hoping you guys coulc come on friday afternoon or something? that'd be sweet. let me know!!) and possibly friday night, Mikey said he wanted to treat me and dave to some pizza and other stuff ;) before we leave.
Saturday: Afternoon is still open, evening I'm going to see Acceptance/A Static Lullaby so i'm pretty stoked about that!!! hopefully i'll get to see Josh at some point this day, cause it's his B-DAY!
Sunday: my family is having a get-together at my house, so i'm busy that entire day
if you'll notice... i still have yet to fit packing into that scheme... i'll probably start that tomorrow at some point, and finish it off on saturday or something, no worries.
