just another day in London

Jul 07, 2006 19:03

Yes everyone, i am currently in London. It is my second day and I have hit a majority of the spots I wanted too...Tower of London, St. Paul's cathedral, buckingham palace, british museum, and a bunch more. And I still have two more days!!

So, i am laying in bed and just stole my friend's laptop because there was a few things that i wanted to share with you all.

As i was standing in front of Westminster Abbey, in the rain...the city stopped. it is the year anniversary of the London bombing and at noon, the city stopped for 2 minutes to honor those who died in that terrorist attack. It was eerie, but it was also beautiful. It reminded me of NY after 9/11. It also reminded me of how it sometimes takes a crisis or a tragedy for us to come together, for us to seek God.

but God is always around us...good and bad...but we tend to search for Him more in the dark times. So i made an effort today to thank Him. for every sight I saw, i thanked Him. For every person who helped me, I thanked Him. For every smile, every new experience, for every step I took...I thanked him.

When I was in Westminster Abbey, I attended Mass. It was simple, yet beautiful. When I went to light a candle for Anna and Michael, they had cards left out. i want to end this entry with a Benedictine prayer from the card:

O gracious and holy Father,
give us wisdom to perceive You,
diligence to seek You,
patience to wait for You,
eyes to behold You,
a heart to meditate on You,
and a life to proclaim You;
through the power of the spirit
of Jesus christ our Lord.

Amem

i have two challeges for you all today. Seek Him at all times...good and bad. He is waiting for you to call Him. Find him not only in crisis, but in your joy.

on the other side of the card, it had guidelines to what you should pray for as you light your candles. I ask you all to do the same:

For someone you know who needs your prayers

For the many unknown who also need your prayers

For your home, city, town, and parish

And i add those I prayed for...Anna and Michael.

I love you all!!!!!
