Harry Potter is...over? ;_;

If you object to geeking, I would advise you to step gingerly around this post.

Last night I went with ivyshort and other friends to the midnight premiere of Harry Potter and WOW. It was kind of...a lot like an anime convention? I've never been to one of the midnight screenings before, but of course I couldn't miss this one. Fan paradise. Costumes and trivia and generally great atmosphere. Three of us ran across the parking lot to Barnes & Noble to cheat on the trivia, but psh, no one knew the answer to the last one, not even the boy dressed as Voldemort. I felt about nine years old the whole night. The audience was wonderful and all seemed to ship the same pairings while they were happening on screen, which is always great fun.

Deathly Hallows Part One was played first, then the new movie at midnight. (After the inevitable previews, that is.) I don't know about you, but I didn't much care for the seventh movie - too much camping/lack of things happening, I suppose. This one was nothing like it. The actual plot consisted of Gringotts/dragon scene, then arriving in Hogsmeade, getting into Hogwarts and the battle began a third of the way into the movie. Despite this, the action wasn't overdone at all. There were breaks all the way through.

Of all the movies, this was the one with the most non-book elements, but not in a bad way...everything still seemed to fit. There were some loose ends left untied, though. For example, the Malfoys kind of just ran off on the bridge after Harry revealed himself to be alive. We weren't sure whether Lavender Brown was alive or not after Greyback was thrown off her body. She was alive in the book, I believe. Fred's death was only made clear when we saw his body later.

Snape/Alan was amazing and made me cry. They didn't show as much of the Prince's Tale scene as I would have liked, but oh well. Neville/Matthew scored his Crowning Moment of Awesome killing Nagini and maybe had a moment with Luna? (The whole theater shipped Neville/Luna - when she sat down next to him, everyone got quiet. 8D) Draco/Tom didn't have as big a role as he did in the book; maybe he had his chance in Part One. Goyle replaced Crabbe in the Room of Requirement scene - we actually saw him fall into the fire; it was Draco and Blaise Zambini who were rescued. Hm. What happened to Crabbe?

And of course when we were all completely stunned from the realization that it was ending, ENDING - they had to use John Williams's music from the end of the first movie to send the next generation off to school. *cries* That kind of set me off. I didn't get to sleep until five in the morning.

We will miss you, Harry Potter. You had a good ending and we will never forget you.

...I think I'm done. Sorry. XD

real life, harry potter
