The Wizard of OZ... Swan song
Well Al say's that this is his last Wizard of OZ, which means it will most likely be mine if it is for him because I don't know if I'd stay after he left even though I know they would give me a real good deal I'm pretty certain. I don't know.
I went in early today cause the vault print wasn't delivered till Friday and there was a big concert last night so the screen was out. Oh, BTW, last night was supposed to be a concert with Livingston Taylor and Kate Taylor, James Taylor's brother. Well, Livingston Taylor took ill and had to be admitted to Mass General on Friday morning, so it looked like the concert was going to be a bust. Well they discounted the tickets 50 % and went with whatever Kate Taylor would come up with.
She performed herself and then introduced her brother James Taylor. Yes, James Taylor covered for the show and the audience was treated to a first class concert in the Mahaiwe with James Taylor for a very good price.
I set the print up at 9:00 this morning, studio copy of a "Spanky and our gang" short which had to be on it's own reel, and Reel 1,2,3 of the Wizard of Oz, and then Reel 4,5. Ran it all down and it was perfect with a gate tension adjustment on reel 5 of Oz. Then it was the shows at 1,4 and 7. They were all perfect. About 700 people came to the theatre today to see the show, and they were all equally entertained. It still was magic, I'm sorry if you missed it. The shows were amazing, applause and all at the end.
