crazy crazy life!
I'm learning to just enjoy the waves. Takes too much energy to swim into the current.
Getting animal obsessed lately..sheesh. Who knew I'd be the "animal lady"
I'm super psyched because I am officially signed off on handling and retrieving animals! The dreaded corn snake was my last test! And i passed with flying colors! Basically the test is...retrieving the animal while a keeper is breathing down your neck..then handling the animal while rattling off facts..then in a sane way organizing people to touch the animal without hurting them. The dreaded Corn Snake loves to find any belt loop or pocket to slither into..so while communicating with guests you have to continue to keep a loose but controlled hold on the snake.
I finally absolutely love the job. I'm learning to just ignore the unsavory bits and just enjoy my time with the animals and even more so educating others on them. My favorite visitors are those who just love animals and don't know a thing about them ( really just love looking at them but i can teach them fun facts) or people who are just "learning" junkies. Families that are a bit eccentric or adults who get off on just learning everything there is to learn.
Chidren are always the best as well..they are so open to everything! You can just start talking to a child about an animal they are just screaming about and then they follow you around the rest of the day!
I have to stop worrying about what comes after this. I also need to stop worrying about my free time. I don't feel as productive in my personal life. Friendships are still dissolving all around me.
It's an obsession at the moment. Oh well.
The Zoo is fabulous.
I really just am so stunned all that I'm learning!
I'm going to start helping the fella with his technology stuff..hey a new chance to learn!!!!!!
I've been reconnecting left and right with old friends and it's great!
I wish there weren't so many low spots but i suppose they are to be expected.
