I was accepted by the way.. :)

the essay:::

Before jumping into any field of work, one should have a good working concept of what it takes to be successful within that field. I feel that making a switch from my current career (finance) into the world of design will not be possible if I did not set my goal of getting an education. Going to school will give me the necessary skills, basic design techniques, and the ability to creatively explore my own potential. Collaborating with similar minded groups and individuals will achieve my goal of not just becoming a successful designer, but a fabulous designer.

In addition my goal is to transform my web design hobby into a multimedia design consultancy. When I created my first work I really did not know how to conduct myself business wise however I was lucky to have a very understanding client. He appreciated my honesty and candor about the fact that I really had no idea what I was doing. Nevertheless the website turned out to be a success. I want to build on my success by attending the Illinois Institute of Art. I fully expect that my education with the Illinois Institute of Art will give me a structured environment to further explore growing my business later while providing me networking opportunities now. In addition, I am submerging myself with ideas and concepts that I would not be exposed to on my own. I know that this kind of creative thinking is integral to my success with future clients.

Lastly, for a purely personal reason, school will excellently fill a need to be around creative people, perhaps even to say that being around creatives will help me fit into the creative aspects of society. Finally, building confidence in myself and in my design work will only come about if I know what I am doing. And that will only come about by getting an education through attending the Illinois Institute of Art. Oh, and one more point - meeting a cute designer boyfriend while working on an intense project wouldn’t be bad either.
