Arrived (after the dry packed sardine can train trip) to a very slushy snow storm here in Fishlake Indiana. Not fun for driving. We (Anthony and Jon) went to where Billy was working for a quick visit and then came back here to his place. After enjoying a bit of popeye and waiting for Billy to get his arse over here we watched the cartoon movie Robots and weren't even half way through when Anthony's Uncle Dan pounded on the downstairs door. Anthony open the door and his uncle busted in, drunk, still carrying a plastic cup of beer with him. Jon told him he couldn't stay, that we had a full house. The uncle wouldn't listen, saying that Anthony's dad had given him permission to sleep over. None of this was made apparent to any of us about those arrangements (if they were even made) The uncle went up stairs and Jon went after him to tell him he couldn't stay. A fight broke out between the two of them. Billy went up stairs to break up the fight. Anthony screamed for me to call 911, which I did. Unfortunately, I couldn't remember if this was a drive or a lane. Anyway, I told the dispatcher there was a fight going on, she asked me if there were any weapons of which I replied, gawd, I hope not.
The fighting between Jon and the Uncle went on for sometime. I stayed downstairs. I had no desire to witness the actions as I was pretty terrified. This incident brought up quite a few memories of my past with my alcoholic father and the shit he would pull on us, family members, or random strangers.
The cops arrived and they took statements from Anthony, Jon, and Billy. I managed to not have to give out my name or info. They took his uncle away to tank out the night at the county jail.
I hope this is not a premonition of the year to come for any of us.
On to other things: a gloomy weather day
This morning, a much calmer moment, got up around 10ish and made our plans to stop off at GFS and Meijers for our NYE foodstuffs. However, we were all starving and I had a huge craving for french toast. Unfortunately the breakfast didn't happen, but we did go to Ryans for some lunch buffet. Not too bad on the buffet servings, everything was tasty fresh.
After that it was GFS. We each were tasked with buying one major entree like item and anything else you might want to eat. where I picked up a huge 2 pound thing of cold shrimps and cocktail sauce and some pretzels. Good combo, yes? I don't remember all the other stuff bought by the guys, but it's all perfect NYE celebration foods. We also stopped of at Meijers. Jon and I went to the Health and Beauty section, Anthony and Billy headed off to get the major groceries. While Jon was looking for his hydrosoine skin treatment I noticed this dude checking Jon out big time. He seemed to follow us every time we went to the skin treatment aisle. I guess going down that aisle (as a man) signifies that you want Dick or something, who knows....
After that fun little excursion, we dropped Billy off at work and came back home to finish the rest of Robots. It was a cute movie, but, for my tastes, too feel good preachy on the whole self esteem thing. I fell asleep shortly after that.. woke up around 7:30 took a shower and started typing this little story.
