I was having a bad day on Sunday. It wasn't bad enough that I almost cut my damn foot up with the chainsaw when it kicked back. Instead, I put a 3/8" x 3/8" x 1" gouge in the sole of my boots. To top matters off, a 27" long by 10" wide log fell 3 feet and fell on my right foot like a pile driver. OUCH!!!GDWTFMF. Of course it had to fall on my great toe along with the rest of my foot. I shook it off though the toe was throbbing a bit as I desperately needed the wood to burn in the fireplace.
Why was I cutting wood? Because the inbred screw up that delivered 2 cords brought pieces >17 inches in length after being instructed not to bring anything over 15". These will not fit my high efficiency wood stove. 17" is the maximum clearance front to back. I live on the top of a mountain and oil is even more costly.
Anyway, after about an hour I wasn't hurting. Today I had an appointment with a podiatrist due to ongoing pain in my heel since December. X-rays were taken. I have 2 bone spurs on my heel. One in front that is irritating the ligaments and tissues (and causing my pain) and the other on the rear of the heel where the achilles tendon is attached. Bones spurs are caused by overwork of the ligaments attached to the bones. The most revealing was the fact that my cuboid bone was actually split at its end. Anyway I ended up getting shot up with cortisone for the spur. I though I was going to crawl out of my skin! I swear I thought she was pushing that needle up through my heel and into my ankle!
The doctor said she had no idea how I was even able to walk at all between all the inflammation and the broken bone. I suppose mountain people are just generally tough. Now where's that bear that's been raiding my trash!
