As a person who has used the internet pretty much since it's been around, I know better than to read comments on any webforum anywhere unless I want to headdesk until I pass out, but... Whenever I read anything on the tv fanatic forums (and sometimes on tumblr...) it really just astounds me how the people who post there obviously think that everyone experiences things the same way, and recovers from trauma in the same way. I know they're just tv shows, but it's the way people react to what I find completely normal reactions for certain characters' backstories, as though they are the single worst human beings on the planet that makes me just... Sad. And angry. But mostly sad, since it's just indicative of the general attitude that if other people don't respond the way you do, they're wrong.

But I guess it's not just TV, since I see it in other fandoms all the time. I just notice it more with tv I guess since new episodes give people new reasons to say stupid things, while books, movies, and games are fixed and you just see the same comments over and over again.

This is my very eloquent LJ entry after months of saying nothing.

Also? IT'S ALMOST HOBBIT TIME, Y'ALL!!!
