So I don't make New Year's resolutions (except for one time when I was really really drunk and wrote 3 paragraphs full of resolutions, but my handwriting was totally illegible and, once I'd sobered up, I could neither read them nor remember what they were supposed to have been, so it doesn't count).
Anyway, last year
enchanted_jae resolved to read 50 books that year and I thought I'd steal that idea for myself. I read a lot, but lately it's been mostly fanfiction. My pile of to-be-read books is sadly neglected (and constantly growing larger).
I think it'll be interesting to see how long it takes me. The husband will probably appreciate it; our laptop crapped out so, the more time I spend reading actual books instead of fic, the more computer time he'll have. Also, re-reads count, because I read a lot of series and I like to read the previous books again before I start on the newest one.
So far I've read one book- Victory of Eagles by Naomi Novik. It's the fifth book in the Temeraire series, which I absolutely adore. If you've never heard of, it's a historical AU set during the Napoleonic Wars in which dragons exist and are used as the military's Aerial Corps. I'm not going to write up a review (I just got home from work and I'm hungry), but I previously posted a little about it
here. I'm really enjoying the series and now I'm waiting impatiently for the next one to come out.
Death Cab for Cutie: *plays*
Summer: This song is called Brothers on a Hotel Bed. I really don't think they were going for the incest angle, but um, that's my first thought every time I hear this song. Maybe I just spend too much time on the internet.
The husband: Nah, it's not just you. *sings* Like brothers on a hotel bed, giving each other head...
The husband: It's like that show you watch.
Summer: Huh?
The husband: You know, the one where they chase monsters and stuff.
Summer: Supernatural?
The husband: I don't know, aren't they supposed to be brothers?
Summer: Yeah.
The husband: Well, they stay in a lot of hotels and they're pretty gay for each other.
If I ever open a coffee shop I'm totally calling it Java the Hut.
I found that written on a tiny piece of paper in the pocket of a sweater today. I can't remember the last time I wore this sweater. Probably last winter?
Somehow I doubt I'm the first one to come up with that.
