Dear Musamea,

I was possessed. The original inspiration for this was an LJ usericon series, with the Battlestar Galactica characters re-named as X-Men. And then? likeadeuce mentioned something in IM. And then I watched the BSG ep "Maelstrom." And . . . All I have to say is, if you don't like this ( Read more... )

AHHH THIS MADE ME CRY!

I love this because it is so very--well, it's just what people do, when they read something and they take it to heart, and it really just sticks with them? The part where she was pretending to be him, wow, that just--touched something. In a good way.

Loved it, hon. What a neat, original, and beautifully written fic :)

I shall take the making-you-cry-part as a compliment. :)

Yeah, everyone I know has something that they retreated too, some work of fiction or world that made it easier to do hard things. Everyone I know. I think all kids must do it. It's not, not a measure of how HARD that particular kid's life is, you know? Just, childhood is hard. And everybody takes heroes to help them through it.

Knowing little more than the basics of BSG, I still loved this story. It's creative and original. I think you've captured what many people probably feel, including myself, for Scott Summers. He's a leader among heroes. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you -- I really wanted to make sure Scott came across as an inspiration, and a leader not just in the wacky Claremont "let's fight the Living Island of Krakao" way. I'm glad it worked!

I know next to nothing about BSG, but hot damn! You make me want to watch it. A lot. Like, going to go hunt down episodes NOW. (Y'know, I have a friend who's been trying to sell me on it for the longest time, but he totally neglected to mention the myth aspect of it. To me. A Classics major. Silly boy. *G*)

Despite my ignorance of the show, I felt like I could totally follow this story, and you did a really great job of setting up the universe to facilitate that. I felt like I knew Kara. And what an incredibly inventive way to approach writing the AU! The playacting and the way she imagined herself as Scott just rang so, so true... how those comics were to her what some book or another has been to every Reader through the ages. And the ending, when he tells her she's a good soldier... I cried! This was just *flails* I haven't the words to describe how beautiful and poignant and right it all felt. And you even threw the Blackbird in! *loves*

Thank you, so so so much for writing this for me, and for the ficathon in general

Well, you know, the Raptors == Black Bird. Cylons == Sentinals, it sorta worked on the details.

I? Am merely relieved that you like it. Thank you for hosting this, it was grand fun!

I don't know BSG well - just the little I've picked up online, but this picked me up and carried me through. I love the way you shifted the X-men story to fit the Cylon war, and the way that Kara was drawn to Cyclops as an ally and a guardian was heart-breaking. Oh, that was just so sad. *whimpers*

The fact that people are saying I've made them cry, I am taking as a huge compliment. :) Thank you, I am glad it worked out!

Oh Res.

This was beautiful. A perfect mesh of the two worlds.

And god, poor Kara. There is no way you can't feel for her and all she's had to endure. And oh the way you had her pretending to be Scot and hearing him and seeing everything.

Simply perfect.

It occurs to me I may have been searching for a tone similar to your Bridge to Terabithia fic, wils . . . Thank you for that one!

::grins:: Glad you liked it.
