Salad Bar Blues (RP for Kara)

When you got down to it, it was probably Peter Gallagher's fault.

Or Sandy Cohen's, more precisely. Not that Buffy exactly owned up to being a fan of the OC, especially not the recent seasons. But season 1 had come up in her media studies class -- something about psychosexual dynamics in Ryan and Seth's relationship -- and she'd been daydreaming ( Read more... )

Oh, the Hellmouth. Everyone always goes on and on about the Hellmouth. It's not like it's so special! There's a Hellmouth in Chicago now, isn't there?

Well, maybe Buffy hasn't gone on and on, but Kara's a bit sensitive about Hellmouths ever since some girl from W&H said to her:

Look, Candy, I fought in the final battle on the hellmouth. I think I'm a little more qualified to deal with this than you.

Firstly, there was nothing FINAL about it! There's always another hellmouth and always another battle! And secondly her name is KARA!

Freaking Slayers, Freaking HELLMOUTHS. She wishes the earth would just open up and -

"Maybe you just haven't been LOOKING. Maybe you're so busy being, like, all in college that you don't care!" She snaps just a little more than she means to. Just a little. "For the SuperSlayer, I have to say, you're kind of disappointing. I thought you'd be more... "

If they were online Kara would add her angry face now:

>:-O

There you go.

"I mean, cookie dough and some vampire lovin' aside, you've got the reputation as being The Biz of all The Slayers - and I think you should be using that to make sure that I - I mean, um, all those little slayers whose lives you ruined and I, and me, whatever, don't get completely dead. Because all I'm saying is that I keep hearing about all these really nasty beasties - "

Although it suddenly occurs to Kara she hasn't seen any of these. Sure, she's run into the usual vamps and the occasional minor demon species... but none of the big bads she keeps being told about.

"And the slayer body count seems to be rising - "

And...

"Are you seriously saying you've seen nothing out of the ordinary?"

Because come to think about it - neither has Kara. And that really is weird.

Buffy is long-reformed from trying to convince Kara that, if the Hellmouth had opened and the world had ended, there would, in fact, have been no Young Miss Arizona Pageant. And frankly, she's fairly sure that the more than seven years she spent as the one-and-only-slayer-(who-wasn't-evil-or-in-prison)(excluding the time that she spent being dead) has earned her a little bit of downtime.

On the other hand, it's not like college is proving to be a thrill a minute.

"Are you saying something's killing slayers?" she asks.
